jaapv Posted November 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) White Rhino. This must be about the longest rhino horn in the world.. Well protected by a paramilitary private army of rangers, she lives in Lewa Conservancy in Laikipia, Kenia. This was as close as I could approach, as she started to get wary. Notice her keeping an eye on me. (Yes, I had mapped a route to a tree, and notice the log in the foreground) M240, VarioElmar 105-280 @ 280. Welcome, dear visitor! gbealnz Posted November 15, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 15, 2014 Beautiful, and sad. Beautiful animal, sad to see what some would prefer to do with it. Mankind can be so cruel. Oh, sorry jaapv, very nice photo as well, got side-tracked. Gary

stuny Posted November 16, 2014 Share #8 Posted November 16, 2014 Wonderful. Makes me think of "Daughter of Agnes" that I saw in Tanzania in the mid '90s. It's really a shame that traditional folk medicine causes the keratin in rhino horns -- the same substance as in fingernails and hair -- to be hunted as a cure impotence. Viagara is far cheaper, and actually works.
