For some users the 'color' of the camera becomes transparent after using a while. I have the Black Chrome M-A and I love it, that Silver Chrome is oh so nice. Bear Posted October 6, 2023 Share #1389 Posted October 6, 2023 I haven't shot a roll of film since 2021. I was considering selling my M-A, but then I see these threads and threads about film and it always makes me reconsider. I should probably finish up this roll. It's been loaded since 2021...should be fine right? Also, anyone know where I can source a replacement front screw, the exposed metal is cramping the black chrome style Welcome, dear visitor! Bear Posted October 17, 2023 Share #1392 Posted October 17, 2023 I know it's been mentioned earlier, but the variation on the lens release button is interesting to see

I am pretty sure I am going to get the M-A, but the discount on the M is tempting. Your point about the RX1 is well taken. To extend your point further, just because one has a film M doesn't mean that he or she can't supplement that with a digital camera (Leica or otherwise). These are not mutually exclusive options. In fact, you could argue that an RX1 plus M-A makes for a compact and versatile combo. Sometimes you use digital, sometimes you use film. Different applications for different situations. All that said, I'm glad to hear that your choice was reassured when you picked up the M-A. Lately I am experimenting with a Fuji X-Pro3 as a digital supplement. Wow that 56mm f1.2 lens sure is awesome when shot wide open. But my M-A is still always with me.

FranciscoChung Posted October 27, 2023 Share #1396 Posted October 27, 2023 (edited) My favorite Leica of all time.. the M-A Black Chrome. I'm appreciating it more as years go by, the built, fit & finish are impeccable and superior to older M's. Also, I actually do prefer Black Chrome over Black Paint. (So M-A BC over MP BP) Some custom paint details on my M-A as well as on 24mm Elmar for the "Monochrom look". https://www.instagram.com/p/CvIVLRiSzr9/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Welcome, dear visitor! a.noctilux Posted November 6, 2023 Share #1399 Posted November 6, 2023 Another out of topic, I checked if I have the same book. ... Same Roger Hicks wrote a book " A History of the 35mm Still Camera". Sadly, I wrote on first page " RIP Roger Hicks 07 avril 2019". I regret not knowing Roger better.

I'm so sorry to hear it. 🙁 I loved the rangefinder book. When I had just discovered rangefinders and was trying to find out what all the fuss was about, that book told me everything I needed to know. And it did in such a nice way, and with such nice pictures, that I fell irremediably in love with rangefinders and never touched an SLR again since. I also used to love Roger's column in Amateur Photographer. Every week I would open the newly received magazine at the end and read his column before everything else. May he rest in peace.
