    • Would have bought the special edition. Too bad it's sold out.

    • Regular model, please. But with a slimmer housing.

    • I like the approach but I'm not going to buy one.

    • A digital camera without display doesn't make sense.

    • Leica is completely mad if they offer such a camera.

Took my new M60 out in the rain for a walk around Manchester's Christmas markets today. I was pleased with the experience.

My first and only Leica camera to date is an M-E. I believe it's E for Essentials. Apart from manual WB setting and ISO, I find my LCD and all the buttons associated with it only a distraction and always wished that it actually came with as little as possible preferably without anything on the back plate of the camera. To me, that would be a camera with essentials it would really match the way I use my camera.

With M60 out there, I can only wish that there will be another and more available version soon so I can get my second Leica :-) ..

If the price were in line with other Leica bodies I would consider one. I don't understand all the carping about a display.... well maybe because I am a film shooter and not used to relying on looking at my work while still shooting.

One of the real cult digi's out there is the Epson RD1 et al and there is no display and an advance lever for gods sake.:D

The price is in line with other bodies, don't forget it includes a limited edition numbered stainless steal 35 Summilux. Special edition lenses go up in value and I'm quite sure the kit will retain its value well beyond any other digital Leica camera to date.

It's the stainless steel and the resulting weight that discourages me the most with the special edition. Interesting as proof of concept, and perhaps we'll see a production version built with the usual materials. Radical!

Isn't the M60 a collectors model (quite obvious as there are no strap lugs)?

I don't understand the whole fuzz about a special edition, limited, pricy and not practical at all.

Though I almost never look at the screen, as I can hardly judge anything from it. (not using the histogram). A simple LCD display for the settings would do for me.

Rephrase that from the perspective of a dSLR user looking at an M camera. No AF, no focus and framing confirmation through the lens, no long teles, focus shifts, macro or ultra wides ... You get the picture.

And it cost how much?
