My black M240 is holding up well (8 months, 12,000 pics)

There is a tiny tiny (looks like a dust spot) of brass above the viewfinder, and some marks in the paint near the strap lugs - i assume they are from bumping stuff in the pit, shooting bands.

The black paint is falling out of my info button, and i removed the white paint from the M with a toothpick (it was perfect till then)

Looking forward to it looking "well used"

I got chrome and black at more or less the same time (March 2013). I decided from the outset to use the chrome as the workhorse and the black as the second fiddle. As of now the chrome is pretty well unmarked and the rear screen is unscratched. The black has a couple of tiny marks on the hard edges + the thumb rest, but seems much better than the black paint M9. I don't use half cases or anything of that kind and the cameras are used pretty well daily. When trekking I generally use a Think Tank Slim Changer back on a belt (Slim Changer). This can take a body with small lens on + another lens up to 135. When working on assignment the cameras + lenses are usually in a little Domke satchel. This takes two bodies with lenses attached + four additional lenses (stacked back to back). The cameras aren't molly-coddled!

Overall I'm really pleased with how they're wearing.

After 18months of virtually daily use my black M is not really showing any signs of wear. I generally carry it with an A&A strap round my wrist, and sometimes put it over my shoulder when having a break.

After getting thoroughly familiar with it to the point that I knew I could rely on it for everything, I stopped worrying about what it looked like and just treat it like any other object, with moderate but not special care, so I'm amazed that it looks so new, but I'm not complaining.

I decided to change it up to chrome this time after having a black M8 and M9. Neither of the latter had a mark on them when I sold them, but I do use half-cases. I expect the chrome one will hold up as well or better. The reality is, condition has a profound effect on resale value, so to enable me to upgrade to future generations entails a reasonable amount of forethought on my part as to how I treat my gear.

My film cameras are silver. The M240 is black. Around 6 months old and 7.000 photos. Light scratches on the bottom and a few marks on the right side of the top plate. Probably bumped into something?

Not too worried about the scratches as I plan to use it for at least 5 years. Should give me enough time to be able to save up for a new one, if I feel like replacing it.

Not too sure about that though as I'm still glued to my film Leicas.

Bottom edge of the bottom plate of my black M is showing signs of brassing, where it rubs every time I take it in and out of the bag I use (snug fit). I don't care a hoot either way - it's a working camera, not an exhibition piece.
