Firefly Posted August 22, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Should meter fine as it will meter what comes through the lens, same for any of the colour filters, cheers Rob
pico Posted August 23, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 23, 2014 Please be aware that filtering can produce some surprising, and unwelcome outcomes. Your K2 filter will do well, however if you move to a red filter you are likely to find more contrast than you wish.
jmr237 Posted August 23, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2014 Is it necessary to do any exposure adjustment for a red or dark red filter? In other words, if you meter through the lens, will the camera's meter be fooled by the red/dark red filter? I can't recall where--or why it would make sense--but I thought I read that the darker filters could lead to incorrect TTL meter readings.

too old to care Posted August 25, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 25, 2014 Is it necessary to do any exposure adjustment for a red or dark red filter? In other words, if you meter through the lens, will the camera's meter be fooled by the red/dark red filter? I can't recall where--or why it would make sense--but I thought I read that the darker filters could lead to incorrect TTL meter readings. This has been my experience on my M6. I tested the light meter with the filter on and off using a gray card and even outdoor lighting. The difference was about one f-stop underexposure. Even the yellow filter was a bit off, about 1/2 f-stop. Since I normally over expose one f-stop anyway with B&W, I do not make much of an adjustment. Balto Posted August 25, 2014 Share #14 Posted August 25, 2014 Never had an issue with yellow/orange/red/dark red messing up the reading of my m6ttl's meter, you should be fine.
alun Posted August 26, 2014 Share #15 Posted August 26, 2014 If you meter through the lens using the onboard meter, it will be fine. However, if you also meter using a handheld meter, you will have to mentally make an adjustment for the filter. In practice, a yellow filter makes so little difference to exposure that if you are metering externally and exposing generously, the difference will be compensated for anyway.
