Herr Barnack Posted August 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 18, 2014 I like your images; good compositions. The people in your photos don't seem very friendly; I get this sullen, almost hostile vibe. Would you you comment on that?
A miller Posted August 18, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted August 18, 2014 Hi Carlos - You are spot on with the energy that I received. Mind you, I spent most of my time shooting in the downtown area. This area, while urban, is not anything like central Manhattan. It is quite poor. The public transportation is widely used, although on my impression heavily weighted toward the lower income classes. The vibe in these areas seems to me to be frozen from the late 60's, with people very sullen relative to the lower income neighborhoods of NYC (e.g., certain parts of Harlem and the Bronx), which, to me, have a more energetic - even festive - vibe. Also keep in mind that I went shooting in the middle of the work day, not on the weekends, which is much more diverse in terms of demographics. Thanks very much for stopping and commenting. All the best, Adamn
stuny Posted August 18, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) A terrific set. Before reading the caption I figured red pants guy was street preaching.
Louis Posted August 18, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 18, 2014 Adam, I like this series very much and so nice to also see some color shots from you although I love all your usual B/W work. My fav is the second shot, but I must admit, that flying pigeon brings much to the first shot!
