rafikiphoto Posted June 30, 2014 Share #121 Posted June 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very excited about all the improvements in this update. Thanks Leica! A question for you all: This firmware has reset the number that was being used to name the photographs. Is it possible to reset it to start counting from the last number I had (9417 in my case)? I've looked at the manual and I didn't find anything relevant there. Thanks! Yes. Format an SD card in your camera. Take a picture. Put the SD card into your computer and go to a file manager. Rename the file to the next number in your sequence. Put the SD card back into your camera and take another picture. The number of that picture will be next in your sequence. Job done. genefama Posted June 30, 2014 Share #125 Posted June 30, 2014 I think you are confused with the new functionality. Please try it out, it now works perfectly and has optional settings for those that prefer a different method. There is nothing to "fix", it is now fixed. Thanks digitalfx, I think you're right and am hopeful it's working correctly now. I look forward to confirming for myself as soon as I get time to take it for a spin. mjh Posted June 30, 2014 Share #126 Posted June 30, 2014 This firmware has reset the number that was being used to name the photographs. Is it possible to reset it to start counting from the last number I had (9417 in my case)? There is an FAQ entry explaining the procedure: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m-type-240/308500-leica-m8-m8-2-m9-m9p-4.html#post2554370. Herb Sennet Posted June 30, 2014 Share #127 Posted June 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Found the EXIF aperture info in Lightroom 100% correct for the first time after the firmware update. Also for the intermediate apertures.
Dannybuoy Posted June 30, 2014 Share #128 Posted June 30, 2014 All I can say is woah. A good woah. It's like I've got a totally different camera. So far I'm loving the update. Things just seem more... snappy. Start up, general menu use and zooming images during playback. Before the update if I wanted to zoom in to 'chimp' (yes really) during the 5 second preview, it didn't always register my input with the scroll wheel. Now it does it instantly and is fast and responsive. Excellent. The new Auto ISO works well. The exposure preview is great as is the horizon. The direct exposure compensation is a good result, begs the question why it wasn't like that to begin with. Anyway, I'm dam chuffed with the changes and even just after a few minutes of playing about it feels so much more decisive to use. Like a car that's just had a full service at the main dealer and the turbo has been replaced. Vrrooom
jaapv Posted June 30, 2014 Share #129 Posted June 30, 2014 Found the EXIF aperture info in Lightroom 100% correct for the first time after the firmware update. Also for the intermediate apertures. That won't last...
pico Posted June 30, 2014 Share #130 Posted June 30, 2014 This is an exciting version of the software. I'm pretty sure at least some of the code is accessible. It is ten year-old development stuff from Fujitsu Limited, Softune REALOS FR. I need an old PC running XP to decode more than I have from a HEX dump. BTW, 'old' means reliable in this case. joe exon Posted June 30, 2014 Share #132 Posted June 30, 2014 worked ok for me, make sure you format the card in camera first
brusby Posted June 30, 2014 Share #133 Posted June 30, 2014 Thanks Leica and beta testers. I was beginning to feel a bit neglected after about a year without any updates or communications. Anyway, the good news is things seem to be working well. And, unexpectedly, the first few photos I've taken have really nice white balance. I haven't seen anything published about this issue being addressed in the update, so maybe it's just happenstance, but I'm really pleased with things. bocaburger Posted June 30, 2014 Share #134 Posted June 30, 2014 What is the file size of the update? (I see the download is 9.5mb but that's a ZIP). I'm wondering because I have a "Leica" 64mb SD card from an old DLux, which I have always used for firmware updates and then on which I have always kept a copy of the firmware for my M8 and then M9 just in case I needed to reload it on the road. (I flipped the lock switch so the camera wouldn't delete it after updating). Can I do the same with the M240 firmware, and use the same card?
pop Posted June 30, 2014 Share #135 Posted June 30, 2014 As far as I can make out, the file is not a ZIP file at all (even if the web site calls it that), but its size is given correctly with 9.5MB.
LocalHero1953 Posted June 30, 2014 Share #136 Posted June 30, 2014 Lesson 1. Don't use "Permanent" for exposure view in LV if you are using flash in low light. D'oh!
Guest odeon Posted June 30, 2014 Share #137 Posted June 30, 2014 Obviously you cannot. The rangefinder isn’t capable of showing an artificial horizon. You misunderstood me. Absolutely, no one sees the horizon in the OVF. I saw the horizon on screen with using classic mode in version 2.0.1.2.
drdannn Posted June 30, 2014 Share #138 Posted June 30, 2014 Half-press shutter button - this is one of the things Leica is still working on. Exposure simulation is working perfectly on my camera without having to half-press the shutter button. Maybe those having trouble should reload the firmware?? microview Posted June 30, 2014 Share #139 Posted June 30, 2014 As far as I can make out, the file is not a ZIP file at all (even if the web site calls it that), but its size is given correctly as 9.5MB. Yes opening web page for UK Server as in ICT's little directory (first posting) 9.5MB file automatically uploaded to iMac OS10.8.5 desktop – not a ZIP. Format SD card in camera, remove, insert into USB card reader, double-click on desktop image and drag upgrade onto card. Start camera with INFO button held down. Download does take about 4m – I released info button when red warning 'do not remove battery' appeared, but probably you don't need to hold it down for any length of time(?). pop Posted June 30, 2014 Share #140 Posted June 30, 2014 You can let go of the Info button as soon as the camera acknowledges that there is a new firmware to install.
