At a recent local cycling event, camera on tripod, buffer empty, camera awake, two consecutive shots with the file numbers/images reversed? Welcome, dear visitor! jdlaing Posted June 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2014 Only once. I took two consecutive shots and the numbers were reversed. Never had it happen again.
jaapv Posted June 23, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 23, 2014 Speculation: Does it have to do with the seemingly random image id numbers?
Bill W Posted June 23, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2014 How about this. The first shot took slightly longer for the camera to process internally and the second one shorter and was assigned a number before the first one. Of course I may be wrong. Ecar Posted June 23, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 23, 2014 Could it be that the camera does parallel processing of the images and, for some reason, the first shot took slightly longer to process and was therefore allocated a later file number? Edit: I see that my post is slightly later than Bill's and says essentially the same thing. Sorry, I'm slow at processing...
Bill W Posted June 23, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 23, 2014 Could it be that the camera does parallel processing of the images and, for some reason, the first shot took slightly longer to process and was therefore allocated a later file number? Looks like we had the same thought at the same time. Mine just processed quicker that yours.....
timde Posted June 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there a time difference in the metadata?
01af Posted June 23, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 23, 2014 This is totally normal when using the Multidysfunctional Handgrip with GPS enabled.
Ecar Posted June 23, 2014 Share #9 Posted June 23, 2014 Looks like we had the same thought at the same time. Mine just processed quicker that yours..... Indeed . In addition, my connection is patchy today and pages refresh very slowly (or maybe it's just my brain...). Perhaps I should just go out take some pictures. 250swb Posted June 23, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted June 23, 2014 Speculation: Does it have to do with the seemingly random image id numbers? The numbers are the last four file numbers of each image, nothing random in them. I inspected the entire set and it happened again a few minutes later, this time perhaps when the buffer was churning away, but the file numbers were again a reversal of the order in which the photographs were made. There is no time difference in the metadata as the exposures would have been less than a second apart. Steve
jaapv Posted June 23, 2014 Share #11 Posted June 23, 2014 I did not mean the image numbers on the card, I meant the unique image ID aka shuttercount, which is undecyphered.
250swb Posted June 23, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted June 23, 2014 I did not mean the image numbers on the card, I meant the unique image ID aka shuttercount, which is undecyphered. That may be a red herring as the JPEG posted is a new composite of both images. But in any case the Unique Image ID's of both .dng files look perfectly normal, although if they could be deciphered the actual shutter count would also add to the intrigue. It's not often I use the continuous shooting mode, but I do use exposure bracketing which also fires off a sequence, so will keep an eye on things from now on. It could be a bit inconvenient trying to win a Press award with the ever increased testing of image authenticity 'honest, he's just robbed the bank, not put a bag of money on the counter' Steve
jaapv Posted June 23, 2014 Share #13 Posted June 23, 2014 Maybe the buffer just reads out in reverse order.
Rick Posted June 23, 2014 Share #14 Posted June 23, 2014 Looks like a sprocket problem.
woorob Posted June 23, 2014 Share #15 Posted June 23, 2014 Looks like it was a lovely day, lots of green in the photo. Maybe some little green men were visiting the event as well, and had a little fun with your M?
