JE Posted April 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 29, 2007 Andy, Very, very, very nice! I love the vastness of this shot and the gradations of greens into blues. Nicely done. Jonathan

andybarton Posted April 29, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted April 29, 2007 Thanks, guys, I have the Emporer Hadrian to thank for this viewpoint. Last month, I was in his mausoleum, this month, I was on his wall.
stunsworth Posted April 29, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Nice shot Andy - that small copse makes it. I'm sure you can guess what I'm going to say, it works really well in b&w, better in fact IMHO :-)
ejd Posted April 29, 2007 Share #8 Posted April 29, 2007 Lovely view. I read the other day that Northumberland is the least densely populated county of England (did I read it on this forum??) and your pic is consistent with that. Where is Hadrian's Mausoleum? And have you read Marguerite Yourcenar's Memoirs of Hadrian? A wonderful book!
leicamann Posted April 29, 2007 Share #9 Posted April 29, 2007 Great view Andy.....hmm how do I say this..for me there is too much sky....rule of thirds might have worked in your favor..considering that your working with something that has many "planes" but they are flat..thats the only way I would figure around this..did you give this any thought while taking the images ? Regards, Leicamann
stuny Posted April 29, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 29, 2007 Andy - Lovely subtlety and depth, and I like how the shaddow aligns with the ridge.
Rolo Posted April 29, 2007 Share #11 Posted April 29, 2007 Steve's right - there is a very nice B&W lurking beneath this colour image. Worth pursuing on the hi-res file methinks. Thanks for showing. Rolo
andybarton Posted April 30, 2007 Author Share #12 Posted April 30, 2007 Great view Andy.....hmm how do I say this..for me there is too much sky....rule of thirds might have worked in your favor..considering that your working with something that has many "planes" but they are flat..thats the only way I would figure around this..did you give this any thought while taking the images ? Regards, Leicamann John I gave this shot no thought whatsoever. Since I have not been using Leica glass for decades, I am not qualified to see with it properly, apparently. I shot it this way to show the open-ness of the landscape and of the sky. I like it this way, and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. Thanks for your comments
