stumac Posted June 17, 2007 Share #161 Posted June 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ken, Several years ago I obtained a diopter holder with rubber eyecup for SL from Leica, but could not find anyone who could fit the appropiate lens to it. My optomotrist gave me a plastic spectacle lens from which I machined the 12mm dia needed. If I were doing this again I would just cut a 15x10mm rectangle and hold it in to the surround with a bead of black silicone or contact cement. The available S625 silver battery gives approx 1 stop error from the orig mercury cell. I intend to carefully check this soon. Since I have had the D2, I havent shot a single frame of film and waiting for the R10? to use my R glass. Regards, Stuart.
Advertisement Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Hi stumac, Take a look here Future of the "R" series. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
topoxforddoc Posted June 19, 2007 Share #162 Posted June 19, 2007 Yesterday I called Leica UK to ask about my complimentary Leica Day; I bought a new R9/DMR and a couple of lenses last year to replace my stolen DMR. Well it appears tha Leica UK have stopped their R days and only a M day is available. I'll go on that anyway as I use a M2, M6TTL and CLE. It makes you wonder what's going on. Anyway it's a good time to buy R glass - bought an ex demo 180 'cron last month at half price from Leica UK. Charlie
hamey Posted June 20, 2007 Share #163 Posted June 20, 2007 Stuart. Thank you for the info, Over the last couple of days I have thought about getting the SL serviced, but in Reality it's not worth it to me as I already have several R bodies and they should keep me going till Death do us part. I must admit I prefer the modern stuff especially the R7/8 and 9 to the SL. Cheers.

Charlie I didn't even know that there ARE complimentary Leica Days - I assumed that they were all paid for. As someone who principally uses an R, I think that the future of the line is far from assured. This is less than encouraging.
hamey Posted June 20, 2007 Share #165 Posted June 20, 2007 I am afried to say not only Leica, but other SLR manufactures could have problems in future. This is what people are buying. hamey Posted June 20, 2007 Share #166 Posted June 20, 2007 I rarely see big DSLR, more and more people seem to be using these little cams. And who uses Leica R's, well people like me who want quality. I am prepered to carry the weight, and the inconvinace of waiting for my Slides to be devolped. Knowing the shear pleasure of looking through my Leica R lenses To capture that image is indiscribable, just knowing that I will have something tangible for the future.. What more can you ask for. Thank you Leica, for giving me so much pleasure over 36 years and hopefully the next ? True Leica R believer and user. Cheers.
sdai Posted June 20, 2007 Share #167 Posted June 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Taken from a Panasonic advertisement. Well, that speaks a lot about Panasonic and they're never serious about a real camera ... I believe it's only a matter of time when they'll completely bow out of the game. Angora Posted June 20, 2007 Share #170 Posted June 20, 2007 I don't see anything wrong with this ad, at least « not more shocking than usual ». Both tha camera and the ad have been designed for people who don't know/care much about photography... it may lead some of them to think reflex are useless, but Pany on the other hand doesn't strongly pledges that its little camera will blow out the « pro » cameras in terms of image quality. hektor Posted June 21, 2007 Share #171 Posted June 21, 2007 Those who have more than a passing interest in photography will see the advertisement for what it is, and who among us does not have a pocketable digital camera? When I could first afford a camera, I looked at my Father's M3 and thought what an antiquated old thing. I bought an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP with wonders of wonders through the lens metering. When I started really learning about photography under the watchful eye of an ex Luftwaffe photographer I added a IIIf to my kit and you know the rest, it happens to us all. Ken, I intend being buried like the ancients with my coffin containing at least one Leicaflex.
