Karl G Posted November 10, 2013 Share #41 Posted November 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) No, I don't want ANY logo, thats why I had a M9-P... but since there are no BLACK dots yet... Actually there is a gentleman making very nice Dots to replace the red dot on the 240 and thise that chose to do so are very happy with the quality and fit. I can not attest to it personally because I have not done so. I have seen black dots with silver Leica script and black/black. Black Dot and Script on Leica M 240-Facebook Link The gentleman's name is Micael Lim on Facebook. Good Luck!
Advertisement Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Hi Karl G, Take a look here Olympus VF-2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thighslapper Posted November 11, 2013 Share #42 Posted November 11, 2013 Interesting to cover the red dot as well. Would you mind to elaborate on the paint you've used to spray the EVF? Just ordinary Automotive spray paint ..... I took my M and bought a couple of cans that looked like they matched the tone of the body.
250swb Posted November 11, 2013 Share #43 Posted November 11, 2013 Interesting to cover the red dot as well. Would you mind to elaborate on the paint you've used to spray the EVF? 'Audi Silver' is a very close paint match for Leica chrome. Steve
keithlaban.co.uk Posted November 11, 2013 Share #44 Posted November 11, 2013 Whilst we're on the subject, do Leica really expect us to buy their £5100 camera and be happy using the EVF-2? Come on Leica, the VF-4 is already out there and would give your customers the EVF they deserve!
lct Posted November 11, 2013 Share #45 Posted November 11, 2013 Wouldn't change the slow refresh rate of the camera i'm afraid.
jaapv Posted November 11, 2013 Share #46 Posted November 11, 2013 EVF2 or EVF 4. I cannot say I care. EVF2 is adequate for the purpose, I'm sure RVF4 is considerably better, but any EVF is a crutch as far as I am concerned. You are always watching television instead of the actual scene. There is nothing that can better the direct view through a good optical viewfinder, although a good SLR can come close, like the Leicaflex SL2. keithlaban.co.uk Posted November 11, 2013 Share #47 Posted November 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I love using the optical finder on my M9-P and M. I hate using the optical finder on my M9-P and M when using ultra-wide, telephoto and macro lenses or when trying to critically frame anything. Give me both an optical finder and an EVF and while your at it make them both excellent rather than merely "adequate".
lct Posted November 11, 2013 Share #48 Posted November 11, 2013 Hard to expect a better OVF than that of the M240 but its current LV/EVF capabilities leave a lot of room for improvement. Won't happen before the next M i'm afraid but lockups must be fixed ASAP in the meantime.

Keith (M) Posted November 11, 2013 Share #51 Posted November 11, 2013 It arrived! Out of curiosity, as your M is chrome, why the black VF-2 rather than the silver? (I ask as the chrome M I have on order should arrive tomorrow (Tues) and if I decide to purchase a VF-2, I would (probably) opt for the silver version). jaapv Posted November 11, 2013 Share #52 Posted November 11, 2013 Because the silver of the VF does not match the silver of the camera?
lct Posted November 11, 2013 Share #53 Posted November 11, 2013 Yes it is not the same silver. Rather warm grey. I prefer the black personally but it is a matter of tastes as usual (i have both).
jip Posted November 11, 2013 Author Share #54 Posted November 11, 2013 Like the two other fellows answered, because I have not seen the VF2 in real life I did not wanted to risk the colours to NOT match, I'd rather have them NOT match at all (black VF on a Chrome body) I thought already that the 'chrome' of the VF would never match the chrome of the Leica. jip Posted November 11, 2013 Author Share #56 Posted November 11, 2013 I am using a visoflex 3 house as a macro ring with a blackened matteglass (so there are no light leaks from above) using the VF2 for focusing. #interesting!
danedit28 Posted November 11, 2013 Share #57 Posted November 11, 2013 I'm sure someone has definitively posted about this but... functionally is there any difference between the Olympus VF-2 and the Leica VF-2?

Thanks - I did assume it was because of potential colour mis-match, but good to have it confirmed. If/when I decide that a VF-2 is required, it will the the black version... algrove Posted November 11, 2013 Share #59 Posted November 11, 2013 Hard to expect a better OVF than that of the M240 but its current LV/EVF capabilities leave a lot of room for improvement. Won't happen before the next M i'm afraid but lockups must be fixed ASAP in the meantime. I use the VF-2 a lot with R lenses and very M lenses and I hear there is currently no fix as yet for the lockup issue. Sad. Trouble is that after lockups it can take my M's as long as three restarts for the EVF to get normal power to the screen to restore brightness back to normal.
