tobey bilek Posted November 24, 2014 Share #421 Posted November 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I want a camera that does not generate a dead column when one pixel is lost requiring a shipment to repair so they can screw up the cosmetics of a perfect camera. Yes it has happened. This is not a want, it is a must above all other things.

CheshireCat Posted November 24, 2014 Share #422 Posted November 24, 2014 Nevermind. I apologize if I offended anyone with the statement about the shaky hands. I was convinced that's one of the things that happen when you get older. It also happens when you get a 400mm. It also happens when you get a 24mm and expose for 2 seconds. The real problem with "old people" is not shaky hands. It is fear of change and progress.
CheshireCat Posted November 24, 2014 Share #423 Posted November 24, 2014 You could select it and everyone you contact locally or on the Internet has to stop whining about things like: [...] Just close your laptop lid and the Internet part is resolved. MarkP Posted November 24, 2014 Share #424 Posted November 24, 2014 I would really like the option of seeing the shutter speed continuously in the viewfinder whether in Auto or Manual mode. Then, when in manual mode, I wouldn't need to take my eye away from the viewfinder to check the speed which can be distracting or just downright difficult to read the dial in low light. This feature could be switched on or off via firmware depending on personal preference.

viramati Posted November 24, 2014 Share #427 Posted November 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) 1. EVF/LCD with no black out after shot is taken 2. Higher res EVF 3. Movable focus point 4. Better high iso capability with no banding at least to standard of my Sony A7 Of course a hybrid finder as in the Fuji X100 would be ideal but i doubt it will ever happen so the above would satisfy me
jedi996sps Posted November 24, 2014 Share #428 Posted November 24, 2014 If it does incorporate video, perhaps 2 different firmware versions (same could be applied to M240) such that if you are not using video, you select the firmware which applies to that, which will hopefully enable the processor to work faster(?)....oh, and also allow you to reprogramme that pesky video button. CheshireCat Posted November 24, 2014 Share #429 Posted November 24, 2014 if you are not using video, you select the firmware which applies to that, which will hopefully enable the processor to work faster(?) No way. The processor speed only depends on the hardware. When you are capturing video, the processor is just running a program to do that. When you are taking photos (not videos), a different program is run.
colonel Posted November 25, 2014 Share #430 Posted November 25, 2014 I think it's fairly obvious what the M260 will look like: 1. Maestro II, so faster and more video modes. 2. Take EVF 4 (aka T). 3. More megapixels and/or more sensitivity. 4. I hope wifi and 4G SIM card for auto photo backup. 5. Focus confirm light (shock/horror). 6. Perhaps they will shave off 1-2mm and 50g for the M6 crowd. 7. Smaller red dot 8. Touch screen (just kidding!). 8. They might experiment with a hybrid viewfinder... So it will be largely incremental and loads of people will complain it doesn't compete with an iPhone but most will be secretly relieved at the subtle but useful evolution. It will thus follow the standard curve of Roger's law for camera introduction: http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/01/rogers-law-of-new-product-introduction
AlanJW Posted November 25, 2014 Share #431 Posted November 25, 2014 most will be secretly relieved at the subtle but useful evolution. Subtle but useful evolution is a good way to put it. That would be Leica's style anyhow.
bocaburger Posted November 25, 2014 Share #432 Posted November 25, 2014 The primary reason I went to the M240 was to gain more reliability over the M9 (particularly the sensor cracking/coating deterioration issues), and usable jpegs. Otherwise the M9 suited me just fine. I can't think of anything specific Leica could add that would encourage me to buy a new model. Perhaps an in-camera pixel mapping utility, but they could offer that as a firmware update for the M240 if they chose. However I can think of many things they could add to a new model that would discourage me.
Echo63 Posted November 26, 2014 Share #433 Posted November 26, 2014 Having used the M for 9 months now, i would like a way of accessing the files and or tethering - whether that is a usb plug (like the S's Lemo connector) or just built in wifi, would be good. I dont see the need for higher ISO, but a cleaner 6400 would be nice The ability to reprogram the movie and focus buttons Better EVF would be nice, but i dont have the current one, being able to move the 5x and 10x views around the VF would be good too (not locked to the centre) A slightly heavier detent at flash sync speed (or 1/125) would be nice too, so you can feel where on thr dial you are without looking

viramati Posted November 26, 2014 Share #435 Posted November 26, 2014 personally I hope that don't add more megapixels to any future model as I find 24 just fine.
indergaard Posted November 26, 2014 Share #436 Posted November 26, 2014 personally I hope that don't add more megapixels to any future model as I find 24 just fine. I totally agree. A 36 megapixel++ sensor on the M doesn't make sense. With that high resolution you basically need to use a tripod to get the optimum resolution... Which is not what the M is all about in my opinion. I even wish they went down in resolution. Or better yet, offered two bodies. One for low-light and versatility (like the Sony A7S) and one with higher resolution. We all have different needs. So, I hope they keep the 24mp resolution, and rather focus on improving dynamic range and high iso performance... And the annoying banding and green cast issue. Paul J Posted November 26, 2014 Share #440 Posted November 26, 2014 40MP is really mostly necessary for me now. It's the only thing I need. 50MP would be a bonus but I can't see that happening. I have absolutely no problem hand holding with these resolutions. 1/8000th of a second shutter, better flash sync speed too please. A hybrid E/OVF would be good. I bet this is going to happen someday as it fits the M philosophy. That way it will, again, become a Messsucher (in combined sense). I would love to see some of the design aesthetics from the M60 appear on the M.
