IkarusJohn Posted November 1, 2013 Share #1842 Posted November 1, 2013 iPhone currently playing Cowboy Junkies Black Eyed Man, streaming through WiFi (and an Airport Express) to an M1clic, X200 cans and B&W 804 series speakers while I wait for some sensible raw files, taken with an A7R and one or more of the following lenses: 35 Summilux FLE 28 Summicron ASPH 21 Summilux ASPH DIstagon 15/2.8 Actually, pretty much any recent M series lens would be nice. Looks like I'll have to take them myself ... Until then, I'm withholding my judgment. Though I do need to remind myself, the last time I did that, it cost me 10 grand - Jono's files from the Monochrom cost me a fortune (no, Jono, I haven't forgotten). I had no intention of buying that camera at all until I started playing with those raw files. Thankfully, I have studiously ignored the M(240) files, and I'm all the better for it. Christ, I need a drink ...

naturephoto1 Posted November 1, 2013 Share #1857 Posted November 1, 2013 I presume R lenses are not going to be a problem? Certainly most will not have issues. There may be a few such as and since most of you are M WA users may not care, but there could be issues with lenses such as the R 28mm f2.8 Elmarit V2 and possibly others. jedi996sps Posted November 1, 2013 Share #1858 Posted November 1, 2013 On the question of adapters, for use with sony alpha lenses, as the A7r does not use phase detection for autofocus, would it be correct to assume that the LAEA3 is needed?.... or am i missing something if i dont get the LAEA4? AlanG Posted November 1, 2013 Share #1859 Posted November 1, 2013 1850 entries about slowly condensing vapor ware up till now.Jan The camera is something that thousands have handled by now. I believe Sony traditionally has met its promised shipping dates. If you mean that compatibility with various M mount lenses is unclear, that is true. But it could easily be determined by test shooting a bunch of lenses using a piece of Plexiglas or shooting an even lightbox as I've described. The ones that have reasonably correctable falloff and color fringing could then be tested on detailed subjects for edge smearing. Someone just has to do this.
