jaapv Posted August 21, 2013 Share #46 Posted August 21, 2013 In both cases (pun intended) the ambient light sensor for the LCD monitor is partially covered. Does this render the automatic brightness option useless? That is a good question. The answer may well be yes.

Richard1958 Posted August 29, 2013 Share #52 Posted August 29, 2013 I have considered the full shroud/ cover for my Leicas. The black anodising or whatever the coating is is fragile, and I have a lot of $ in Leica glass. I've decided against the full hood. Whilst the camera fit out isnt what I might choose, the owner is justifiably proud to show and share their beautiful version of the M. So I kind of reflect on, and object to the subjective and critical comments. They're not designed to achieve anything except a dis-unity or a disconnection. Interpretations of taste/ subjective honesty do not to be delivered with an ice pick. Go figure.
intermediatic Posted September 2, 2013 Share #53 Posted September 2, 2013 The negative comments about the OP's case and treatment are infantile. As my Leica dealer said, look if it isn't a question of aesthetics you wouldn't have bought a Leica. I had a black M9 with a half case from Luigi that did a good job of protecting it. I got brass wear on the top front edge which some people here love, but for which I am likely to incur a loss when I sell the camera. Although the black could easily be mistaken for a no-name Chinese camera and thus useful in rough neighborhoods, my M 240 is silver. I want to protect this camera at least as much as the M9 and was thinking of a Luigi case. My last Luigi case got many compliments and while I would rather get those for my photography, I certainly didn't mind them. The mini-mate was also fantastic. Who wants to pull off a base while shooting to replace a battery or an SD card? This oversight on Leica's part is ludicrous. That said, the photos of these cases make me wonder if Luigi hasn't bit off more than he can chew with the M 240. I don't want a case that will make it harder for me to use the camera and even on his Web site, the LV button seems to be hard to reach. I think it's safe for the juveniles to bow out from the forum now, but I'd like to hear more thoughts from individuals who are in my position or have bought the cases. pedaes Posted September 2, 2013 Share #54 Posted September 2, 2013 intermediatic - I have a Luigi half case and the fit is fine, I would say better than my M9 Luigi case. I met someone the other day who had Leica's own full case which is about same price as Luigi half case. It was very nice leather and an excellent fit, and when the ugly front was removed makes a half-case. Interesting feature was rear screen flap which seems to have magnetic catches which are very neat ant easier than press studs. If I knew about this case would have seriously considered.Might be worth a look...
Guest Emile de Leon Posted September 2, 2013 Share #55 Posted September 2, 2013 I like the Leica brand cases..simple and to the point.. Surprised though..that they would put magnets..so close to what is essentially..a mini computer..
gabriel Posted September 3, 2013 Share #56 Posted September 3, 2013 Got my M240 case back from Luigi today after one week. He made a few minor modifications to the cut outs. The LV button and screen sensor are now fully exposed. There is a new cut out that makes the thumb rest more comfortable in use The leather round the Focussing button the front of the camera has been relieved a bit which makes the button more accessible by feel. Overall I now have an excellent case made in a unique leather (Black Diamonds) up to Luigis high standards. I wish Luigi the best of health and long may he continue to make his outstanding cases and confuse with his unique website

349A Posted September 3, 2013 Share #58 Posted September 3, 2013 I just received my JNK case as well. The fit is truly like a glove- just perfect. My Luigi case is a hot mess by comparison. The JNK is also much softer leather and thinner and lighter feeling as well. The Luigi is like a saddle, the JNK like fine gloves.
StephenPatterson Posted September 3, 2013 Share #59 Posted September 3, 2013 The Luigi is like a saddle, the JNK like fine gloves. Just like a saddle (or a quality pair of handmade leather shoes) a Luigi case needs to be broken in...but after a few months it is the finest by far. 349A Posted September 3, 2013 Share #60 Posted September 3, 2013 Not my experience at all. Stephen, I know you like Luigi and so do I. But his work is not on the same planet as JNK. Sorry, I have them both in front of me right now. My Luigi case comes from my M8, then to my M9. The JNK is on my MM. It literally clicks into place around the display, around the thumbs up and the viewfinder. Precision. The Luigi is far from precise. Break in doesn't change the cut which to my eyes is sloppy at best.
