lorenzvs Posted July 17, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted July 17, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Leica M8 has a loose shutter leaf. I noticed it when all of the sudden a bright white stroke of light appeared on my photos. I made the loose shutter leaf conclusion after removing the lens and looking at the shutter. A loose shutter leaf is clearly visible. Â I hope I can find a solution through this community. I bought it two months ago as my first Leica. I'm missing it already. Advertisement Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Hi lorenzvs, Take a look here Leica M8 loose shutter leaf. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted July 17, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted July 17, 2013 That's very unfortunate. Â If you send it to Solms they will give you a quote for repair. Â Did you buy it from a dealer? If so they might have offered a warranty.
lorenzvs Posted July 17, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted July 17, 2013 @andybarton: I didn't buy it from a dealer. I bought it from a guy (photographer) on Markplaats.nl.

satijntje Posted July 18, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted July 18, 2013 Maybe the previous owner bought it from a Shop less than 10 months ago. Then the Camera would still be covered under the 1year warrantee. Â I would check it. Â John
jpfisher Posted July 19, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted July 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M8 shutter fell a apart after about 13k photos. The fix from Leica NJ was around $800. My equipment insurance covered it, as Leica told me it was possibly due to dirt in the mechanism. Might be worth filing a claim if you're carrying insurance on the camera. Shade Posted July 22, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted July 22, 2013 The most reasonable solution is to send it back toLeica. Do not tamper with any of the mechanisms yourself..
jip Posted July 10, 2015 Share #9 Â Posted July 10, 2015 The Leica M8 was repaired and CLA'ed for free by Leica after Lorenz and I shipped it of to the mothership.
