Will get it, together with a 35mm Summicron F2 ASPH, next Wednesday. What a great learning journey I will jump on as this is my first rangefinder camera. Thanks for all the inspiration. Here we go!!! Advertisement Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hi Millberg, Take a look here I've done it - I bought a Monochrom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
michali Posted July 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2013 Congratulations! A bit of a learning curve ahead, but not too serious. You will love it, the Monochrom is my favorite camera.

skinnfell Posted July 16, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 16, 2013 Well done! I think that the Monochrom is the camera that really improves photography, by way of what it does NOT do. However, what it DOES do, there is nothing that comes close. To me it feels like a small camera which shoots scanned medium format negatives. Texture, tonality, sharpness in troves. Just be prepared to spend a bit more time in post processing than with color cameras, mostly because the files are so different from all other cameras. This is a good thing as you will eventually achieve a workflow and "look" that is your own.
jaapv Posted July 16, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 16, 2013 First rangefinder and a Monochrom to boot. You've got the right instincts, Sir.
Millberg Posted July 16, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted July 16, 2013 First rangefinder and a Monochrom to boot. You've got the right instincts, Sir. Thanks Will be interesting.. I guess that I need to spend a lot of time in this place. Asking questions and begging for feedback on pictures that you all will laugh about.. But give me a couple of months

Both when shooting and when post processing. This is truly (as you say) a good thing

If the amount of threads in there equaled those in here we'd all be better off. (And I accept my part in that too...) (I'm swinging between a new M and an MM at the moment to be honest....) C_R Posted July 16, 2013 Share #13 Posted July 16, 2013 Congrats ! Agree with all comments but one here: dont be afraid, the Monochrome files need less postprocessing than M9 files, IMO Carsten
semi-ambivalent Posted July 16, 2013 Share #14 Posted July 16, 2013 In other business news today, financial analysts in Sweden noticed a very brief, perhaps anomalous, surge in that nation's consumer sentiment. Originally assumed to be a glitch in a high-frequency trading algorithm, analysts now discount that as rumor but say they will continue to monitor the situation closely. They did not return our calls.
junah1 Posted July 16, 2013 Share #15 Posted July 16, 2013 Great choice of camera, I went for the same combination and found the 35mm a little too wide for what I was used to, before you commit, try it with a 50mm, remember this is a full frame sensor, I know a lot of people swear by a 35mm but be sure before you buy. I now have an older 50mm that suits me better and have kept the 35mm for the times I need it. I do have my name down for the 50mm Apo-Summicron, if I live long enough! wattsie Posted July 16, 2013 Share #16 Posted July 16, 2013 Congrats ! Agree with all comments but one here: dont be afraid, the Monochrome files need less postprocessing than M9 files, IMO Carsten That said, the files are very flexible so it's worth playing around to achieve that subtle gradation from black to white. Great camera - a real keeper if there is such a thing in this day and age!

2wk Posted July 16, 2013 Share #19 Posted July 16, 2013 Congrats! I just got one last week. Unfortunately it is now on it's way back to NJ to be serviced. The rangefinder was off, and also the sensor became completely filthy after a few days of shooting. I mounted a brand new 50 lux, and did not change the lens even once and its like it self contaminated. Anyway, I don't mean to be a debby downer, I hope yours is perfect! The results are incredible. For whatever it is worth, my MM (43469xx) focuses just right and is clean. I hope Leica NJ treats you well... I have had some dicey experiences with their service.
