Well, I cannot speak in the sellers name, but I got in contact with him before the purchase, and he claimed all issues were resolved. Hence, I bought one, and it fits perfectly.

I was only aware of the tight fit problem it had. Not sure if there were other problems with it.

I bought a chinese version for $70ish on Ebay, and it serves perfectly,

Well from what I have just read on this thread, it doesn't.

I was tempted to go for it, but now that I know that it is an approximate fit, I will not take the slightest chance of damaging or even slightly scratch my camera's bayonet.

This is crazy. A really bad copy that was listed as "clean with no damage"... LOL! The seller had 22 bids and sold it for $256. What a joke. Zoom in on his picture and you will see defects in the finish and the black baffle. Why do people buy this crap?

Guys, stop this. The OUFRO gives about a centimeter of extension and really is useless for most applications. Buy the China stuff and play with it. Or, buy a macro lens like the 90 Macro Elmar.

The "defect" won't affect the performance so I personally don't see the problem with it. I do agree the OUFRO is an overly expensive accessory at the moment, I have no doubt there will be a reliable third party option in the near future.

lol. terrible! I saw a 21mm Summilux recently that was chipped and scratched to hell and had, and I quote, "cosmetic scratches on the front element" . It was still listed as Exc++. That is, one below Mint- It was boxed, though, you see.

I suppose you could repaint the exposed baffle with flat black paint and it wouldn't affect performance. But, as badly as that thing is beat up I would be concerned that the release mechanism would fail and the resale would be difficult when there isn't a current thread active on LUF.

It looks like a freak occurrence, but I was able to buy an OUFRO from a seller on eBay called mkoptics for £64.00 plus postage. A former owner had milled the tightening screw to make it easier (I guess) to reach and turn if an attached lens rendered the space too small, but it works perfectly and I feel very well served!

I struck lucky - got a Leica OUFRO on ebay for less than £100 at Buy-It-Now price - found it just after it was listed. :)

But I had already concluded I was never going to find one at a reasonable price, so a week earlier I had bought the Jinfinance one. :(

By chance, both arrived today. I have read the threads on the Jinfinance OUFRO and was prepared to spend some time to make it a smooth fit with emery paper, wire wool and PTFE spray. In fact, both fit equally well and firmly :D, though I will probably use wire wool and PTFE on the Jinfinance bayonet to take off some slight surface roughness.

I shall keep both for stacking. Off to find some beetle eyes.

I think the expectation and performance must be set correctly.

The Oufro will improve the poor minimum focusing distance of most M lenses.

The Oufro can provide composition with a close subject on any M lens.

I can use it on my 21 lux, 35lux, 50 Noc, 90AA for close composition with a M240 which was otherwise impossible. Besides the weight is minimum and no need for carrying another macro lens at only a fixed focal length and a marginal magnification.

For higher magnification expectation, I'm waiting for a Bellow II to arrive and am shopping for a Visoflex II. I have the idea to set up my own digital Macro set if the results of trial can be encouraging. My intention is to detach my googled Elmarit M 135mm for attaching it to my bellow via adapter and have my M8 dedicated for macro photography work.

Nice work Sillbeers15!!! I bet those pictures will look great when you make them really large (bigger than 16X20).

I bet Novoflex will make an OUFRO like item soon. It is so easy to carry and use. Right now I'm using a a Novoflex Viso/M adapter with a black 65mm Elmar R. It works well but is bigger than an OUFRO. I also use a set of ELPRO lenses with 49 and 46 step down rings for the 50 Summilux and 75mm Summicron. This probably is not the sharpest system, but I can easily carry the filters in my pocket.

Ciao, Sully

Hello,

I have just bought one Leitz Wetzlar Oufro for 85€ in Brussels and tested it with a summicron 75mm Asph. and a classic summicron 50.

It works perfectly with both lenses on a leica M 240. It's always astonishing to use very old stuff like this Oufro on a brand new Leica M 240 and to feel it working so flawlessly.

Continue looking for an Original Oufro. There are still some at a good price.

Best regards.

Dominique
