Ruhayat Posted July 3, 2013 Author Share #21 Â Posted July 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Seems a lot pf people love their 50 Luxes. I'm thinking for a one lens kit with the MP the 35 would be more appropriate, but I guess I should investigate the 50 first one of these days since I seem more comfortable shooting a 50 because of the personal distance when taking a shot. But I do love the look from a 35 more.
Advertisement Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Hi Ruhayat, Take a look here THE one lens you can't possibly part with?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IWC Doppel Posted July 4, 2013 Share #22  Posted July 4, 2013 Interesting question  For me it's got to be my 35 Summilux aspherical (AA). But the 'bunch' I will never part with is unfortunately more than 1 lens.  Close behind would be Noctilux f1.0, 50mm Summilux Pre Asph, but then I would be gutted to lose my 28 Summicron which is on my M9 now. Stein K S Posted July 4, 2013 Share #23 Â Posted July 4, 2013 Hi and sorry about your mom! Â To me quite simple... keep different versions of lenses between 28 and 90mm... But without a doubt my 35 Lux asph pre-FLE is my most "delicious" and also useful lens. Â Stein

LucisPictor Posted July 4, 2013 Share #25 Â Posted July 4, 2013 My condolences. Â To answer your question, it depends of course on the camera: Â EOS 5D: Sigma EX 15-30 and the adapted Rokkor 2/28, Nikkor S.C 1.2/55, Leica Summicron-R 2/50, Nikkor H 1.8/85. Â Nikon D3100: There is no lens that I love that much that I would never replace it. Â Nikon 1 V1: Nikkor 1.8/18.5 Â Sony NEX-7: see D3100 Â Leica M8: CV Ultron 2/28 and CV Heliar 2.5/
wda Posted July 4, 2013 Share #26 Â Posted July 4, 2013 I am sorry to read about your family bereavement. Take time to take stock. Â If I was forced to pick one lens it would be the 50mm Summicron, versions of which I have owned and kept since new. It is the one focal length which is both good for portraiture and the modestly wider scene. It never fails to please me.
algrove Posted July 4, 2013 Share #27 Â Posted July 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) You asked. The APO 50/2.0; next the 35/1.4 FLE. I have all of the M lenses except for Summarits and the 28/2.8 and I am keeping them all.
exile Posted July 5, 2013 Share #28 Â Posted July 5, 2013 Very sorry to hear about your loss. Â A single lens setup should be optimized for small size (otherwise instead of a single big lens, I would carry two smaller lenses of same combined weight) and normal-ish focal length being suitable for the most situations you encounter. Small size means summicron or summarit (or sonnar if you can live with the focus shift). Normal focal length means 35 or 50mm. Personally I love the 40mm f/2 which sits perfectly in between the 35 and 50, is tiny but fast and sharp and flare resistant and easy to focus quickly. It is my cheapest lens but also the most versatile, spends most time on my camera, and is the last I would ever sell. Luckily my pictures with the 40mm fully support the flawless logic! smkoush Posted July 6, 2013 Share #31 Â Posted July 6, 2013 It used to be the 50mm Summilux ASPH. Â Now it is the 50mm Summilux ASPH and the 28mm Summicron ASPH (that I recently replaced my very capable Elmarit with). Can't pick one or the other. It is both. Ruhayat Posted July 6, 2013 Author Share #33 Â Posted July 6, 2013 Have to say the 28mm Cron and 50mm Lux ASPH pairing sounds sensible for a pared down system. I like the looks from both as well.... made the mistake of taking up the dealer on his offer to try out the Cron after I had just bought the Elmarit ASPH. The Elmarit is very good, but there's just something to the Cron images that make me fantasise about it until now. Â Then again, I get a lot of mileage out of my 35-75, too. Interesting there hasn't been more mention of the 35 Lux here.
Guest Marc G. Posted July 6, 2013 Share #34 Â Posted July 6, 2013 A few 28/50 lovers here (me included) Â it seems that the 28/2 and 50/1.4 asph combo is quite common. no wonder... look at these lenses
pfhrased Posted July 6, 2013 Share #35 Â Posted July 6, 2013 Then again, I get a lot of mileage out of my 35-75, too. Interesting there hasn't been more mention of the 35 Lux here. Â For myself it's the 50 1.4 and the 35 1.4 I could probably do the desert island thing with just one of either, but I'm not sure which I'd pick! Guest borge Posted July 6, 2013 Share #36 Â Posted July 6, 2013 50 Lux ASPH. I would have no problems letting my 35 Lux FLE go, and in fact I plan on selling it. Not sure what/if I'm going to replace it with any other lens yet. I guess I'm a 50mm guy
CalArts 99 Posted July 6, 2013 Share #37 Â Posted July 6, 2013 Interesting there hasn't been more mention of the 35 Lux here. Â fwiw, I have the 35mm Summilux in addition to the 50 Summilux and 28 Summicron. And that's all the Leica lenses that I own and all that I personally will ever need in my lifetime (my M film cameras even have the frame lines masked out for the lenses I don't own and that way there's only one set of frame lines showing up at a time.) Â I use them pretty equally and they all good. But for me it's not about a 'focal length spread' or anything like that since I carry only one lens at a time (and with rolls of film stuffed in my pockets; I did have a short relationship with the M9 but for now I'm sticking with Japanese-made for electronic digital cameras.) I don't like changing lenses and don't need to for the work I do with a Leica. I just need to be fast and be there. Â So I guess in a sense I have only one lens since I only carry one at a time. And whatever is attached I'll make good use of it. I suppose you could take any of the three away from me, but as long as I have just one then I'll be fine. MarkP Posted July 6, 2013 Share #38 Â Posted July 6, 2013 I have the 35 Summilux ASPH (FLE). It gets progressively less use over time Interesting though as before I got into Leica it was my primary FL for decades on my Nikon F3/T and my little Contax T3 (that rarely left my side), and it was therefore the first FL that I bought for the Leica. With time I just see things differently through the Leica. Â I still use 35mm as an all-round general purpose lens for more "casual" photography when I only want one lens - family functions etc. It's not the quality of the lens which is outstanding, but a focal length that I use less than before, preferring 50 and 28mm (and 21mm) for my more "serious" photography. BrianUK Posted July 7, 2013 Share #39 Â Posted July 7, 2013 Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH... Â Thirteen years-old and going strong. Never felt the need for anything else on my M6. Though if I was really pushed and had the spare dosh it's get the current Summicrom 50, too
kokoshawnuff Posted July 7, 2013 Share #40 Â Posted July 7, 2013 The 35 lux ashp FLE is my typical one lens set, therefore the lens I wouldn't want to part with. Whenever I use the 50 lux I feel the fov is too narrow to use alone so it is always paired with the SEM 21. All my lenses are far better than I deserve, but easy to pick the theoretical ONE
