Giorgio Festa Posted June 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dears, Last month I bought an used M9 (the previous owner bought it early in 2010..). In this month I shot some hundreds pics and was very happy with it. Yesterday I took it with me to take some pics for the newspaper I am working for and started to experience some bad problems.....see the attached picture. what is it? has some of you experienced something like that? I am terribly worried....first because it is out of warranty....second because I need the camera for my work (next month I have an important trip in the far east....). Thank you very much for your kind suggestions. rgds Giorgoi Welcome, dear visitor! Stealth3kpl Posted June 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2013 It looks like you will need to send it to Solms for sensor replacement. or ask if they'll give you a good deal on an M for immediate turnaround Pete
Giorgio Festa Posted June 16, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted June 16, 2013 Thanks Pete. Sad to hear that.... Has someone idea about the costs of The sensor replacement? I am worried it will cost a lot....
jaapv Posted June 16, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 16, 2013 Don't worry - chances are you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you are a professional register for Pro Service. See Leica's website.
sblutter Posted June 16, 2013 Share #5 Posted June 16, 2013 is it with every picture now - or just sometimes?
Stealth3kpl Posted June 16, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 16, 2013 Thanks Pete. Sad to hear that....Has someone idea about the costs of The sensor replacement? I am worried it will cost a lot.... I suspect there will be no charge. Leica wouldn't want to risk being known as the company that sells the most expensive 35mm digital cameras in the world that last a couple of years. They wouldn't want to turn their back to you knowing that one day you may want to buy an M. Pete

jaapv Posted June 16, 2013 Share #10 Posted June 16, 2013 No but pros have some advantages like priority in turnaround and loaners.

Giorgio Festa Posted June 16, 2013 Author Share #12 Posted June 16, 2013 You need to follow up with a phone call, referring to your email. Don't they reply quickly? I will follow up cause I need The camera urgently....how much do they generally need to repair a camera?
NikonJeff Posted June 16, 2013 Share #13 Posted June 16, 2013 No but pros have some advantages like priority in turnaround and loaners. Too bad that Leica in the US doesn't have Pro Service for the M. When I bought my M9 new from Ken Hansen last year I checked with Carmen at Leica, NJ and was told it didn't exists here in the states
k-hawinkler Posted June 16, 2013 Share #14 Posted June 16, 2013 Don't they reply quickly? I will follow up cause I need The camera urgently....how much do they generally need to repair a camera? In my case they didn't reply at all to my email. But a follow up phone call got things moving. The email is important to document the issues you have found. Anybody answering the phone has access to your email. And they also speak English. Good luck,

wda Posted June 17, 2013 Share #16 Posted June 17, 2013 At least it is on its way. Let us hope that you receive a favourable outcome. Do keep us advised because M9 sensors have a pretty good record, I believe.

M. Valdemar Posted June 18, 2013 Share #18 Posted June 18, 2013 Maybe you'll squeak out of it for only $4,000 or $5,000 for the repair. You might only have to wait 14 months or or if you're lucky 13 months.
