Leica M9....problems

Dears,

 

Last month I bought an used M9 (the previous owner bought it early in 2010..). In this month I shot some hundreds pics and was very happy with it.

Yesterday I took it with me to take some pics for the newspaper I am working for and started to experience some bad problems.....see the attached picture.

what is it? has some of you experienced something like that?

I am terribly worried....first because it is out of warranty....second because I need the camera for my work (next month I have an important trip in the far east....).

Has someone idea about the costs of The sensor replacement? I am worried it will cost a lot....:eek:

 

I suspect there will be no charge. Leica wouldn't want to risk being known as the company that sells the most expensive 35mm digital cameras in the world that last a couple of years. They wouldn't want to turn their back to you knowing that one day you may want to buy an M.

I really hope they are going to manage it in this way.....

Don't worry - chances are you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you are a professional register for Pro Service. See Leica's website.

 

Hi jaap...i really hope you can be right...

I am already registered on the leica website....however I did it as normal customer not as pro...do you think it will create me some problems?

No but pros have some advantages like priority in turnaround and loaners.

 

Too bad that Leica in the US doesn't have Pro Service for the M. When I bought my M9 new from Ken Hansen last year I checked with Carmen at Leica, NJ and was told it didn't exists here in the states :(

Don't they reply quickly? I will follow up cause I need The camera urgently....how much do they generally need to repair a camera?

 

In my case they didn't reply at all to my email.

But a follow up phone call got things moving.

The email is important to document the issues you have found.

Anybody answering the phone has access to your email.

And they also speak English.
