One of your very best portraits,  beautifully composed and exposed. Truly theatrical (taken during a dress rehearsal?)

Taken outdoors at an animation convention today with lighting I brought.

Cosplayers from a vampire hunter anime called Hellsing if I remember correctly.

Thank you. Excellent use of artificial lighting,  giving a very natural impression. I suggest you also post in the open thread on portraits. It deserves wider viewing.

Toshi I agree with David, your portrait work deserves its own thread!

King Salmon, line caught, northern California;  before the garlic, before the grill. It was delicious.

remembering a good friend, artist, illustrator, poet, musician, traveller, photographer, Seiji Yabuki. We first met in Paris in Bill Hayter's Atelier 17, and we noticed we were both shooting with screwmount Leicas.

First real trip out with my new X-Vario. This is at the Danish Canadian Museum at Dickson in Central Alberta. It really is a lovely place to spend a nice sunny afternoon walking around and taking in the sights.

I know the XV is not a birding camera, and this shot will not wind up on Nat Geo, but the XV gave a heck of a try capturing these roseate spoonbills launching from a tree as I drove by in my work boat.

With the movement of your boat I think I might have selected a much faster shutter speed, (1/500th or 1/1,000th) even at the expense of a higher ISO. The light looked good and the target highly interesting. Another suggestion; given time to select the option, a burst of shots would have increased your prospects of capturing a winner. (I am always forgetting to switch to continouous shooting)

OK, looks like we are talking at cross-purposes here, I was commenting on the B&W of the boat shed and pool not the lovely picture of the spoonbills. Sorry for the confusion here, it is the first time I have checked the "Notify me of replies" so I just saw the question on shutter speed and thought it was my picture. Sorry for the confusion here.
