Contax II, CZJ 50/2 Sonnar, Portra 160

Beautiful. I would spend a couple of weeks taking photos of barns and farms in America. They're are so different from here. It's something we only see in movies.

Thank you so much. I was pretty happy with the appearance of the photo after the scan. My first thoughts went to the Portra 160: the great work of Adam, as well as others, with the Portra 400 sort of overshadowed the 160, at least in my mind. It is a truly great emulsion. With Winter, and snow, coming on, I am going to try and shoot more of the stuff through the Sonnars. This was the old, collapsible, uncoated version of the 50/2. Something about an overcast sky seems to really help the rural landscape shots.

Best,

Wayne

When I see these vintage photos, immediately  I think of the "Schimanski" thrillers

Thanks,

yes - Schimi was there sometimes;-)
Guess most of this is gone now.

Here another view from the same film, that shows even more damage and dust.
Some may recongnize the scene. It showed up in the Ruhrgebiet movie "Jede Menge Kohle".
But I have no idea if all those "Ruhrpott"-movies from the eighties ever was popular or even known outside the Ruhr area.

Anna Magnani just drove by.... if this is not a still from a "neorealism" film, I don't know....

Thank you for the mike, Rog. And a nice try anyway.... 🙄. Just participated in a Zoom-update on Retinal Diseases this afternoon.... floaters were not among the usual suspects..probably because the condition is more a test for our psychological equilibrium than a disease or a serious problem. I try to consider the humble floater as a reminder not to be so fussy with the dust on and in our  Crons and Luxes...😁

Btw:  great compositions lately

seems more like  a cat he-she is watching out for... or did you train  ZOË  as a "sniffer dog" ? Lovely photo though.

those GD floaters,  horrible, just another joy of old age, along with the creaky joints, and love of film ;)

This shot of my granddaughter was taken last June in LA using Kodak 250D Vision 3 film. Used Silbersalz and their scans came back with a green color cast that I just couldn't;t correct. Got the negatives back, recently upgraded my Silverfast for the plustek 8200i because vuescan was also giving me bad results for some reason. Anyway, rescanning the four rolls -- yahoo! Now they look right. Maybe not when loaded here, but certainly on my screen ....

It is just a wordplay (do you say so in english? please correct me) The german "Gang" means "narrow road in a town" but in english an organised group of criminals.
The sign reminds me on the of old TV-serial the danish "Olsen-Banden" (Olsen Gang) in the 70ies…

Thanks my friend, I thought that Bonnie and Clyde sould not part of the Scandinavian experience! Although Sweish noir is quite a genre of novels... Is poor Gunnar Myrdal outmoded?

Sincre hug with the elbow, Patrick
