Doc Henry Posted January 5, 2017 Author Share #25668 Posted January 5, 2017 (edited) I agree and would use it more if only Wales were less inclement! Unusually we have clear skies today, but it's mostly dull at this time of year and rains frequently. I made a conscious decision this winter to shoot b+w for the first time since school in the late 70's. I have been surprised by the tonal quality of Ilford XP400 Super as it renders skin beautifully. I was not expecting that. At least tomorrow is Friday and I get to escape the office and see some daylight and finish my roll of Kodak BC 400. Thank you for your input to this forum it's inspiring and heartening to know that film is alive and well. All we need now is the manufacturers to realise it too. Thankfully we have people like Bellamy Hunt (aka Japan Camera Hunter) fighting our cause too. gbealnz Posted January 5, 2017 Share #25673 Posted January 5, 2017 Yes, great to hear, but to me the bottleneck is the E-6 processing. I recently acquired a small quantity of E-6 film, but found there was little chance to have it processed locally, and the future of those that were processing it still was doubtful. I sold it while I could. For the revival to work, there needs to be the other part of the equation, processing. I have no desire to self process it. There is hardly a bad lens made for the M mount. Even my first little L39 Summaron 35/3.4 is a great little performer. There is always a lens suitable for a particular occasion. I have 3 50's and 3 35's. Each serves a purpose, one is light and easy to travel with; one is heavy but can see in the dark; another draws beautiful portraits and has characterful bokeh. Are we not fortunate to have these choices? Better than some standard zoom on a digital megapixel camera? I can only consider Nikon a near rival in this regard. Do you know they still make manual focus lenses for their DSLRs and they can be programmed in to cameras like the D610 and all their past lenses fit too, especially the Ai series onwards. We truly can have the best of all worlds today. So spoiled for choice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
