Well there you have it ;)   That's what I love about shooting the SWC handheld...Stopped down to f/8 you have a 35ft DOF with subjects 10ft away...more or less as point and shoot as you can get. ;)

Thanks, Marc.  I totally get what you are saying.  That is the method I used to get these with the SWC.  With good light and stopped down, it is more hit than miss... :)

How can you get reliably spot on sharpness from that great lens w/o a RF mechanism of some sort and only a focus scale on the lens, which is 40mm and not wide enough to have a deep sharp focus range at different apertures???

Is its reliable crazy sharpness limited to really bright light and infinity?

If not and I am spreading disgusting rumors, please do correct the record.... :)

They are only for skilled photographers[emoji1]

One is Made in germany. But therer are only a few made in germany. So there is not a single S or SE with Sonnwar made in germany. The later "Rollei 35 classic" were made in germany, but in the early 90´s

I've also have a 35xf

Thanks Klaus... I use a Jobo 1520.  I prewash for 2min with distilled water then follow the standard directions @ 20C. for 12.5min.  I agitate continuously for the 1st min, then every 30sec for 3 seconds.  Does more agitation create more contrast?

Thanks, Marc! I develop the Tmax 400 at 20°Celsius for 12 Minutes and 30 Seconds. First 30 Seconds moving constantly, then 3 times every minute, using a small tank (Jobo)

Why one should use a SWC instead of a 501 or 503... The best image quality combined in the most compact housing. That was also the intension to build a Rollei 35 back then.

No, I don't think so. Too much agitation leads to a more balanced negative but perhaps with little less sharpness (as ist does with rotating development). But I don't think that there is much difference between our habits, Marc. Your helicopter-pics are great and if this works for you then it's fine.

A subject with generally low contrasts would not become one with high contrasts if shaking a few times less...

My SWC was my grandfather's :)  Additionally... I have the 80mm focal length covered in medium format elsewhere (Makina 67 and Rollei 2.8F) and I don't seem to shoot much at 150mm.   I also think the SWC is more compact all in with the A12 magazine attached, especially with this special weapon ;)  https://www.cameraquest.com/frames/4saleSWC.htm.

I find three of the outstanding characteristics of the Rollei 35 cameras are:

Firstly that they can always be with you they are so small.

Secondly, people hardly notice them and if they do they don't take them seriously.

Thirdly I have the tendency to experiment more using a Rollei than a "serious" Leica.

Here a shot from the first category. It was the Rollei with the Tessar and you can notice some Barrel distortion.
