jaapv Posted May 6, 2013 Share #261 Posted May 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Closing stable doors and bolting horses... Maybe this will cause Leica to rethink the design for the next model.

Rick Posted May 6, 2013 Share #262 Posted May 6, 2013 I just hope that they leave the guy who failed to dip the screws in Loctite, back in Portugal. Wilson I just hope they send the guy who failed to dip the screws in Loctite AND the guy who codes infinite loops into the firmware (only solvable with battery removal) back to school. brianjones1 Posted May 8, 2013 Share #268 Posted May 8, 2013 My Leica M was returned today from Solms, just over a week in total from the UK to Germany and back. Hopefully others are also getting theirs in good time.
digitalfx Posted May 8, 2013 Share #269 Posted May 8, 2013 My Leica M was returned today from Solms, just over a week in total from the UK to Germany and back. Hopefully others are also getting theirs in good time. Unfortunately in the U.S. Leica is using 3 day shipping, so we have 2 weeks of transit time only. For now im holding onto my M as the lugs are tight.

Andy, From my experience over the last few repairs, it does not seem that a tracking number appears on the system until the repair is completed - odd system! Ario Arioldi Posted May 10, 2013 Share #272 Posted May 10, 2013 My 240 was sent to Solms a week ago though my dealer and even if I do not have a tracking number I am able to monitor the status of repair using the camera serial number (presently is "on repair"). sillbeers15 Posted May 11, 2013 Share #275 Posted May 11, 2013 As for my Leica M recall: Datum Status 03.05.2013 Service order registered on 06.05.2013 Oder confirmation sent 06.05.2013 In repair (Last check on 11 May 9:30pm Asia time) Leica is taking ridiculously long time to work on my camera (after 5 full work days and yet to be completed vs marketing lies of 48hours turn around)! I wrote in and called Leica Singapore Service Center earlier this week, all I received was "staff on vacation. Kindly leave message behind". Followed by no response till date. Also wrote to Germany customer care, no response till date as well. Call Solms customer care, provided my repair number and I was told my camera should be completed repair soon. I will call again come 13 May Monday to see what excuse they will be making this time!
Rick Posted May 13, 2013 Share #276 Posted May 13, 2013 I just read that do to unforeseen circumstances, Leica did not plan on using up their supply of Blue Loctite. Leica is unable to get Blue Loctite from their supply source anymore. They had allocated a ten year supply to insure repairs on the M for at least ten years. They will be unable to repair the new M240 lugs. But, they are offering an upgrade for current owners of the M240 to the M.2 for a mere $2,000 - $3.000... depending on when you received your M240. They feel the M.2 really is the camera for a lifetime or fifteen minutes, which ever comes first.

jaapv Posted May 13, 2013 Share #278 Posted May 13, 2013 That is what you get from skimping and buying USA products. They should have used tüchtige German Pattex.

Leica is unable to get Blue Loctite from their supply source anymore.............. I heard a very different story. Following Adobe's recent initiative they are waiting for management to make the big announcement before releasing cameras. "Cameras will no longer be available for purchase but must be leased from dealers on a monthly or yearly basis". I'm told new dealer contracts are almost finalised, so we shouldn't have too long to wait. Bob.
