Lovely poppy, I got my D2 last month and I am addicted to it, didn't know taking Photos can be that much fun! It's my first NON-point&shoot camera as well... Just had a go at my friend's 5D mark 3 today I was blown away by the technology and functions as well as seeing the flaws of the D2 (you really CAN'T compare them) but its better looking and has a soul!

I'm really late to the party here  Finally bought a D2, a camera I've wanted since first reading the press-release in 2003. It's more than what I expected. And after recently discovering the many threads here, John T's blog posts and Thorsten's website I learned I wasn't alone, this camera is truly special. I can't seem to put it down.

One of the first pics I took was of Diablo (a Coonhound/Doberman mix rescued from the pound 8 years ago). No composition, just impatiently experimenting to see some results. I love the blue sky, horizon, and empty field he's gazing out on reflected in his eye. OK, this confirms for me I won't be limited by the camera.

I know a sunset picture is "déjà vu", but I couldn't resist :p ... and a few seconds later, the downpour (darker area on the left) was on us.

Cheers

Michel
