Been looking at your pictures Fabien, I love the look and analog style. Wanted to ask -- are they coming out like that straight out of the Digilux or are you doing any particular edits? Would love to get the same look with mine.

Taken at yesterday's Friends of Prescott Breakfast Club event:

I had a clear shot of this Citroen with a partial of the Riley Elf in the background, then the owner stepped forward to point out some item of interest to a bystander.

Same event.  This one made me chuckle.  The registration is valid, though the plate is not as it doesn't show any of the regulation compliance markings.

D2,  f5.6, 1/500s, ISO 200   Dull grey overcast lighting.

It's a shame the event wasn't better supported, but after the previous day's thunderstorms, torrential rain and flooding, I'm not surprised.

Believe it or not, the Digilux has been my main camera the past few months. I also have an SL and M-E, but they all sat unused while the D2 hit the streets again.

I can’t believe how good this camera feels to hold. Yes, it can also be limiting (which is a GOOD thing), but I can’t ever put this thing down. I can’t praise the Digilux 2 enough.

It’s “old tech,” but so is Tri-X.

I completely agree.  I still have my two Digilux 2's and recently discovered through Amazon that a Chinese manufacturer called vhbw makes new S602E batteries that are the right size and voltage etc for my D2's.

(I acquired a Q3 43 as a replacement for the D2 but haven't gelled with it yet in the same way that I always have with the D2 so the Q3 43 stays indoors for now.  Time will tell ... )

Pete.

Hi Pete - congrats on the Q3!

im not able to find the batteries you mentioned. I’ve been using new Kastar batteries (they’re ok - but I’m glad to have a new supplier). Do you have a link you can share?

Pete I found a link to a charger including a battery, but at virtually £80 is a bit on the pricey side - on Amazon UK, supplier in London.

AliExpress lists lots of batteries, same make as the Amazon link I found.  Or in USA this may be a possible:

millionbattery.com/products/cgr-s602a-battery-1-pack-replacement-for-panasonic-cgr-s602-cgr-s602a-cgr-s602a-1b-cgr-s602e-1b-cgr-s602se-cgr-s603-cgr-s603a-1b-dmw-bl14-battery

There is a Lithium-Ion website, but they show a battery at US$917!!  Think that is rank profiteering :)

I figured I should mention to this group that I’ve recently started the first phase of a project focused on the D2 and LC1. I’m going through my archives and posting only photos from those two cameras since I’ve been lucky to have used them for more than 20 years. It is my lifetime camera, and you can follow @mylifetimecamera on Instagram.

i hope that’s ok to mention on here, if not please let me know - or if I’ve broken a “no self promotion” rule, I apologize in advance. Just figured that it may be a topic of interest to those who visit and contribute to this amazing thread.

I  have recently completed a similar exercise which I wrote up for The Leica Fellowship here https://kendavis.photium.com/lucky-dip

I was astonished by what I found.

Just wonderful pictures, David, that herald the inherent 'power' and brilliance of the humble Digilux 2.

<'Nerd hat' firmly on and apologies for the Engineering mindset: You mention that you cropped the lovely picture of your cat drinking from the tap by about half so it equated to 5 MP/2 = 2.5 MP.  But, actually if you think about it, the sensor is a two-dimensional object that has area so cropping by half would reduce the pixels used by 4 (rather than 2) so the picture equates to 5/4 = 1.125 MP.  Even wonderfuller! 'Nerd hat' removed. ^_^>

Pete.
