Amazing how a 5MP-sensor image can handle color processing so beautifully.

Headed out to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles and decided to bring out the Digilux 2.

After nearly 8 years of using the D2 and the Lumix LC1, I am still really satisfied with the files it puts out.

I've been scanning Tri-X for the past two weeks so I'm used to seeing grain at 400 ISO.

I've only recently acquired a Digilux 2 from a recent camera fair, the viewfinder is scratched to pieces, the leatherette covering is starting to peel off, but for £90, I love it already :D

Hi

Thanks for the comments.

It was my first outing with the D2 and so I did not play with the settings much at all.

Sat, contrast & sharpness etc all at standard and in fact the only change I made was for the colour shots where I keep WB on Cloudy. Does the High setting on sharpness make an appreciable difference ? I did google to see what other people use for picture settings but could not find much even on Thorsten's website.

I shot on aperture priority and mostly wide open at f2 with ISO100.

I ran out of battery because I was shooting 3 images at a time which was a mistake given most of the cars were stationary - anyway live & learn and 4 new batteries on the way to me.

Yes that is a Sunbeam and I have a few more of that one. It is a car show that is held at a local Italian restaurant at Terrey Hills on Sydney's northern beaches on the first Sunday of the month. It attracts everything from your classic VW Bug upto supercar's such as Pagani's and Lambo's -hot rods, muscle cars, classics and your every day to day ho hum Ferrari :)

I have quite a few more from that day if anyone is interested in the cars but I did not want to swamp the thread.

Hi ...

A well-known Leica user recommended shooting a burst of three shots, not so much to arrest subject movement as to beat camera shake which is often more evident on the first shot taken; hence a short burst. For something critical it might be justified. But I find it generally unnecessary.
