The challenge was to preserve the structure of the flames which was only possible by underexposing most of the shots (not the wheels) by 3-4 EV and extensively pushing the dark areas in postprocessing. Although it required a lot of denoising afterwards, at least it could be managed on the basis delivered in the raw data.

The wide angle shot was taken with the AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4 G ED @ F1.4, the others with the SLR Magic HyperPrime CINE 50 T0.95. For the light wheels it was stopped down for the others it was used at open aperture.

And some portraits of the artists:

Attached at the end you find an example (just downscaled out-of-cam JPEG) demonstrating the initial light balance to give you an idea what could be retrieved from the raw data in the underexposed areas (but with additional denoising).

Took these at Venice beach today. Bumped into a fellow Leica user who also turned out to be a L-Camera forum member, Mellisah. She's a skate-boarder whisperer of sorts and arranged the awesome skater group shot at the end.

All shots taken with the 35 Summilux FLE @ f5.6/8 ISO 400

Two from the M240 this weekend, first one is with the 90mm Macro-Elmar @ F11 and the second with 28 Cron @ F 2.8 - I am preparing future reviews with both so shooting both a lot and really enjoying them as strongly performing but mild-mannered optics

Mostly down the canal.... with the dog in the way :) ..... light is very warm in late afternoon and the grass etc. very vibrant and green this time of the year ..... makes for some colourful photos - all with 75/2.....

Bit of graduated filter in LR for the dog in the field.

I have abandoned auto WB, these are 5200k with a custom dual illuminant profile in LR ...... that seems fine for sunny conditions and needs little tweaking. No compliants about the colours now ...except that Leica should be doing this in camera not me in my spare time ....
