mirekti Posted February 26, 2013 Share #121 Posted February 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Let's hope Leica decides on the M, OK it's the US turn for once, and they just might do that. ...and let's hope they send a decent number of it, especailly for the guys who are not in the top 50 on the list (including me)
Advertisement Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Hi mirekti, Take a look here End of March/ Early April. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 26, 2013 Share #122 Posted February 26, 2013 Do you know when did the production start?...I thought there were 50 a day in Germany and 50 a day in Portugal, at least I remember I read it so somewhere. Actually they are mostly produced in Portugal and shipped to Germany for finishing, so those two fifties are the same cameras. The sales figures, when last published, showed comparable percentages for Germany and the Americas, more for the rest of Europe and Eastern Asia, so I can imagine Leica spreading them out. 2011-2012: Deutschland 32.389 29.403Europa (ohne Deutschland) 77.457 66.979 Asien und Australien 89.330 73.070 NAFTA 41.518 34.937 Sonstige 3.062 4.185 Materialverkäufe an Leica Portugal 3.453 3.431 Gesamt 247.209 212.
wattsy Posted February 26, 2013 Share #123 Posted February 26, 2013 Actually not. It seems people in some small area of Finland who were 6th on the list, got their Monochrome whereas the US received nil. I'm talking people #1 on the list all over here. Yes, and I also still read comments from people on a waiting list for the Monochrom in the USA. Here in the UK (and I suspect elsewhere in Europe), dealers cannot give the camera away! I'm exaggerating but the Monochrom is widely available from stock and at least two dealers have been recently selling the camera at a 5% discount (from RRP). Leica Mayfair had a mint ex-demo for sale at a 10% discount that wasn't snapped up (and might still be available for all I know?).
charlesphoto99 Posted February 26, 2013 Share #124 Posted February 26, 2013 Yeah, nearly impossible to get the MM here in the states. My dealer has had about five of them and still a half dozen people on the list. I'm looking to purchase in Europe where it's cheaper for us (so strange!). The ex-demo isn't on Mayfair's site fyi. jaapv Posted February 26, 2013 Share #125 Posted February 26, 2013 As Leica USA is a semi-independent entity I suspect it depends on the number of cameras they pre-order.
johnbuckley Posted February 26, 2013 Share #126 Posted February 26, 2013 As Leica USA is a semi-independent entity I suspect it depends on the number of cameras they pre-order. Is that the way it works? U.S. dealers order from Leica USA, and Leica USA orders from Solms?
jaapv Posted February 26, 2013 Share #127 Posted February 26, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My guess. - that is the way. I could be wrong though.
Guest tanks Posted February 26, 2013 Share #128 Posted February 26, 2013 Is that the way it works? U.S. dealers order from Leica USA, and Leica USA orders from Solms? That's the way it works for just about any foreign manufacturer that has a local entity handling the sales in the country.
johnbuckley Posted February 26, 2013 Share #129 Posted February 26, 2013 Interesting, and supports the information William Palank posted some time ago -- time has stopped moving, as we await the first report that one has been shipped... Where was I? -- that Leica Stores/in-store boutiques will be taken care of first. Presumably Leica USA has an incentive to make those channels work best/first. I write this speculatively, but it makes sense.
krooj Posted February 26, 2013 Share #130 Posted February 26, 2013 Does anyone know whether Canadian dealers go through Leica USA or is it some other proxy?
canlogic Posted February 26, 2013 Share #131 Posted February 26, 2013 Yes through Leica NJ.
wattsy Posted February 26, 2013 Share #132 Posted February 26, 2013 I'm looking to purchase in Europe where it's cheaper for us (so strange!). Charles, Robert White and Red Dot (both forum sponsors) are two dealers discounting the Monochrom and are selling it for GBP 4845 (ex. VAT). With the recent fall in sterling against the dollar that may be an attractive price. That said, RW seem to have gone out of stock ("expecting more soon"). thighslapper Posted February 26, 2013 Share #135 Posted February 26, 2013 The ex-demo isn't on Mayfair's site fyi. Stock control is not their strong point..... you will need to phone .... and on a regular basis to get things. I have been in the shop and actually had my credit card debited before they discovered the M9P 'in stock and available' was actually sold..... Guest malland Posted February 27, 2013 Share #136 Posted February 27, 2013 Anyone buying from the States, should consider that price are lower on the Continent than in Britain. At today's exchange rate the GBP4845,, ex-VAT price stated by wattsy is US$7,322. In France, there are some M-Monochromes available at €6,400 which are €5,146 ex-VAT, of US$6,721, or US$601 less than the UK price stated above. —Mitch/Paris Paris au rythme de Basquiat and Other Poems [download link for book project]
charlesphoto99 Posted February 27, 2013 Share #137 Posted February 27, 2013 Hey Mitch. Ordered mine today from Maison du Leica. The price is actually 5300 euro ex-VAT (or at least that's what Jean-Marc quoted me). Still better than GB. Shipping is a whopper but even so still comes in $800 better than US. And they have it!
