Thanks for the comments, guys. Just finished the week from hell and my month, so haven't been back here lately.

Dan,

If you look closely on your Artisan, the boats are fiberglass and light is actually shining through the stern of the one in the foreground. Want to risk taking this one fishing? :)

John,

Indeed! And it's 5 C and raing here and I could have done with a bit of this sun today...

Paul,

The M7 basically nailed the exposure as the sand is very white. The lightest areas are not blown as you can still see the grains of sand in the full file.

Bill,

Never been there and had to look it up. St. Thomas is 5 degrees farther west and 5 degrees farther north. Climate is probably wetter but otherwise similar. No cacti in the USVI... Guess you sailed to the Grenadines?

Peter,

Glad you enjoyed. Yes, the 28 behaved well and the colors in this scan are very realistic. Portra NC rules for super high-contrast light like this.

Mehmet, exactly!!! You have it precisely!

John,

In light this bright with the 28/2 I try to stay as close as possible to f5.6 which is the optimum aperture for resolution and fine detail. This was f4.8. Look at the leaves in the foreground and the texture of the bark on the trees. I'm actually only 2+ m from the boat but I find the surf in the OOF on the left fairly pleasing. At any rate, this shot is exactly what I had in my mind and shot only one frame from this angle and am happy with this result.

Splendid example of your work; I can see why Allan was so very anxious to invite you back to share your technique with us after such a long absence.

Honestly Pete, it's getting old at this point. Probably the second time you've bumped one of William's old posts to do this. There are better forms of criticism than dripping sarcasm....

These comments keeps him away - very boring and uninspired :(

Personally, him coming back or not doesn't make any difference to me even though he wanted me out of this Forum.

He went far enough as to tell me which Forum I should go to.

He questioned on this Forum whether I did actually own Leica gear and made mock of my country.

This guy didn't like me, simply because I gave out some ideas to other members.

I just want to let this 3'rd version of Lamb know that I'm still around.

Never met him - sounds like someone I don't want to meet. Personally I think the "I'm leaving the forum never to come back" - "Don't leave the forum we'll miss you" - "Come back , we wish you hadn't left" are a load of bolloc*s.

So you´d like to get even ruder?

Ron,

Where have I been rude in this thread?

If you are looking for rude, condescening, arrogant, fatuous or even mendacious; look not to my posts, look instead at those by someone described, fairly accurately, by one of our senior Australian members as a "pompous wind-bag".

I read this twice before I realised you were being serious. Then I read it again.

Lamb should correct the error of his ways and apologise to you.

The evidence of your Leica gear is in your images. A jerk can see that.

Your country is a small, but very fine one. The centre of international conflicts for centuries, in spite of never being the initiator. Never heard of Allamuchy, but I'm sure some fine people live there. Lamb needs to put this right.
