Dagmar and Carsten.

Posted rather late, the dense areas of this negative needed some attention...

You'll notice I'm not using my Noctilux pinhole lens cap here! ;)

Look on the bright side, Erl, when using your pinholeless lens cap you're in the esteemed company of a certain Mr Eric Clapton who's known to strum a ukelele or banjo or some such instrument from time to time I believe. And most forum members.;)

OK, now I am finally home and nearly recovered from jetlag (door to door was 4 train trips, 2 plane journeys, 2 bus rides, 7 in-transit meals and 35 hours later!) I have a few comments to make.

First I appreciate the work put in by Andy and others who seamlessly coordinated the great event at Wetzlar for us all.

Second I want to express my gratitude to Ferdinand for collecting me from Frankfurt Airport upon my arrival and driving me straight to Wetzlar (via Solms), thus saving me extraordinary to and fro-ing with local trains that I would struggle to understand.

Thirdly, I am grateful to Lars for driving me back to Frankfurt to Central Station from Wetzlar to facilitate my onward journey to Dresden, Prague and Venice. I suspect that was in the exact opposite direction he needed to go home. Thank you all.

Now, I have thrown together a potpourri of my images of friends at Wetzlar for common enjoyment. Here are a few teasers to start and the full 80 images are set in a proofsheet style on my website. Simply click on an image and use you keyboard arrows to progress forward or back.

John,

I was wondering the same as Pete about the film in your LTM. Up in my attic, I still have my father’s Leitz daylight loader, that I keep thinking about getting out. I am wondering if your experience is a good argument for leaving it up in the attic :)

The facts about that film!

I did misload it. My fault, not the cameras. I went on to use it heavily and successfully in Venice the following week. There were no images on my initial Challenge film. I did suspect that so at the eleventh hour I loaded a new film and on my way back to my hotel I took one frame of ...... can't say what of course ;)..... and it has been submitted for the comp. Not a world beater, like "those that got away", of course, but that was my Challenge.

Wilson, I would not hesitate to get that gear out of the attic and use it. The old rules of film camera use always apply. Watch that rewind rotate for the first few frames. I neglected so to do. The first frame or portion turned and apparently pulled out of the take up spool after I looked.
