Andy, Marilyn and I are hoping to attend the Challenge - please can you put one of us (myself) down for a factory tour.

We are hoping to embed the Challenge within a more extended break to be arranged (for example, perhaps going on to Weimar for a JS Bach pilgrimage - and we should just avoid the Weimar Onion Festival).

That's great John, be good to see you both again.

Hi There

I hesitate to ask . . . but would it be okay if Emma and I came as well?

We'd like to do the tour BUT - I've already done it, so we should go at the bottom of the list.

As for flights - if you're considering Ryanair to Frankfurt Hahne airport - I've done that, I think it might be nearer to Stansted than it is to Frankfurt. The Cologne and train idea sounds better (fancy driving myself - if we're allowed to come).

All the best

Jono (and Emma)

Frankfurt Hahn is certainly nearer Luxembourg than Frankfurt! I believe there is a coach service to Frankfurt. Otherwise it is a local bus to Idar-Oberstein and train from there to Frankfurt Hbf and then a train to Wetzlar. The really bad news for those travelling with their wives (or somebody else's wife:D) is that Idar-Oberstein is a major jewellery centre!

Here is the link to the bus timetable (in English):

Flughafen Hahn

The Deutsche Bahn tool is handy for those preferring a route via Idar-Oberstein and indeed all journeys within Europe including local transport connections (also in English):

https://www.bahn.de/i/view/GBR/en/index.shtml

Just remember Germans admire (and expect) punctuality but their public transport is not immune to delays!

Yes, but I've always been afraid of finding my self in the wrong orbital on Bohr Reisen.:D

We have been holding The One Challenge for 9 years now. Next year is the tenth anniversary.

We have just been to Copenhagen, in October. Announcements were made throughout the Forum and in the meetings section. We had 30 people enter this year and about 80 people voted.

You have two hours to take one best shot from one film/36 exposures, using one lens and one camera body in a different city every year. Next year we are in Wetzlar.

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/copenhagen-one-challenge/260950-one-challenge-day-voting.html

I am puzzled with the rules. The winning image was shot with a M9-P, and second place one with an M8.2. Only the third place image was shot with film.

So, shouldn't the top two have been disqualified for being digital according to the rules you posted? Please, clarify.

hi tanks

i participated in the copenhagen challenge with a digital camera and leica R zoom. the 'rule' (andy will correct me if i'm wrong :)) was to shoot up to 36 pictures (no deleting) within the two hours at one focal length and ISO setting. we were all ladies or gentlemen, so we didn't fudge.

so, enough rules - time to sign up and join us!!

greetings from hamburg

rick

Of course you can use a digital camera. Normal forum rules apply for the hardware.

If you read the full rules I am sure that they are even clearer than that brief post I made at the top of this thread.

I must be helpless as I browsed through the English section of the forums and could not find the post with the full rules.

Edit: I did find the post from Palermo 2011 that had a link to the PDF with the rules. I assume they have not changed in the last few years.

So, does one have to be one of the "cool" kids to know where the link to the rules are hidden among forum posts? Even the sub-forum search does not bring it up (except Palermo 2011).

No.

Every new Challenge, every year, has a link to the rules, the location, the time to meet and all other information necessary to take part. The information starts up to a year in advance.

Every Challenge is well publicised across the whole forum, on both International and German sides. It's the annual Forum get-together.

You should come this year, if you can. You will enjoy it.

I might do it. I will be in Europe during that time I think.

Though seeing that I can't seem to find the link on my own I'd appreciate it if you'd provide it.

If I might make a suggestion, seeing that it is a forum wide event, a sticky would help those that were not around a year ago.

There's no exclusivity whatsoever: every forum member is welcome.:) We are occasionally joined by a non-member or two too. The basic rules don't change from year to year so the rules for the Palermo One Challenge are a good guide.

Pete.

The place and time, are detailed in the first post of this thread.

Place and time, yes. However, the "full rules" that Andy keeps telling people to check are not linked or detailed there.

Tanks, you are right. The rules are not linked anywhere in this thread that I can find, so I am in your 'club'. ;)

As a past participant I can assure you that just turning up is more than acceptable. You will get the feel for it over a beer or three with the group. Simply bring the camera and lens of your choice. Either one or the other must be Leica branded. Then take a max of 36 shots on any medium in the appointed two hour time frame, in the designated city. This year it is Wetzlar.

I am about to walk the dog (I am heavily timetabled), but when I return I will ferret out a rules link for you, if I can find it! :D

Thanks, and a good idea. My dog just told me to take him for a walk too.:D
