There are instructions in various threads of the forum:

1. Press your thumb on and "work" it. That may well cause it to unstick.

2. If not use two toothpick and alternately push against either side of the logo. With some persistence it will slide off.

3. To reapply just stick it on again with the original adhesive, which will remain active.

Yes done this already to no avail i'm afraid. Black logos were easily available then fortunately.

Leitax normally have them but out of stock just at this moment. They are available on Fleabay here but a bit on the pricey side REDUCED Leica Leitz Dot Logo Black | eBay

Mine came from Leitax as well but they were original Leica parts then if i remember well so i wonder if we'll have to wait for a possible M-240.2 given the apparently larger size of the new M's logo.

That brings up a question that I must admit I overlooked at Photokina and that was the size of the logo compared to current M models.

My question was how to DIY taking off the red dot. Probably would just leave it off like is done on current stealth looking models.

So under the red dot is the screw I see on my MM and M9P?

I wouldn't leave the camera without a logo if there is an open adjustment hole there. But if you want a black logo, why not just paint it? I did that with my TTL and is easy. I used black metal paint (for a car actually). I should say the reason I did this was that there were no black dots to be found. DAG, who usually has them in stock, was out. Before painting it, however, I ordered an extra red dot from Adeal in Oz (amazingly enough with shipping it was cheaper than from anywhere else I could find).

What I did was to create a round mask using masking tape. With that in place it was just a matter of applying the paint and using something with a flat surface to remove the paint from the "Leica" letters by dabbing on them. The last step didn't remove all paint but with a pointy sharp hobby knife it was easy to scrape off the rest. It turns out that the silver colour is very deep so no risk of removing it.

Or you could just use black tape, of course.

Another technique which car sprayers use is to apply a thin coat of vaseline with a cloth to the raised lettering. Then after painting the whole thing black (an aerosol or air brush would be good for that), the black paint should just rub off the raised lettering, leaving the original paint finish.

No - a hole. Probably triangular.

Did you just call him an "a hole?" Jeez, no need to get personal, Jaapv. It's just a logo.

I'm joking, of course. Put me in the camp that could care less about the logo. I don't think it adds to or detracts from the camera in any way. Nor do I think hiding it is going to make your expensive camera any safer from thieves. But I understand that it is a subjective personal thing and lots of people prefer the look with no logo or a black logo.

Clearly Leica has been working with Adobe in preparing for the arrival of the M-240 ... see:

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3 Release Candidate | photo management software prerelease - Adobe Labs

I'll be interested to see how / if the profile for the vario elmar 80-200 f4 addresses the multiple focal lengths of a zoom... with no electronic information being passed to the camera, I wonder what the profile will offer...

I guess the most important preparation is to find some interesting subjects to photograph, or plan a trip to a interesting place to photograph.

No squirrls or garden flowers - please! ;)

I have just sent a "get your finger out" message to Jakub at Phase One. I cannot stand Lightroom and really really want to continue using Capture One (Version 7 Pro at the moment). There is currently no profile for the M-240 on C1 V7.

I have been using the VF-2 with the S/H Olympus EP-2 I bought, which arrived today . I am afraid it is not a wonderful device, particularly for spectacle wearers. The screen seems quite small and it is actually much easier to manual focus with the back LCD screen than the VF-2 - hmmmmm. I had hoped that the screen would fill a larger proportion of your visual field.

Nor for the Monochrom - but they claim to be working on it...
