mirekti Posted March 8, 2013 Share #761  Posted March 8, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found an interesting article what to do while waiting for M M Waiting  Now, as I have 35 lux and 75 cron comming in few days I wonder how this would work together. This combination should work fine with the Novoflex, right? Even an idea of passing this iteration of M and waiting for another three years and the next M came to my mind. ...I should stop reading reviews and simply wait for the M.  I've been reading this forum a lot and somehow didn't get my the answer to the question I asked myself. What would you consider be the best third party body while waiting for the M to arrive?

keithlaban.co.uk Posted March 8, 2013 Share #762 Â Posted March 8, 2013 So far as I know, no. Though I have asked for this - maybe a later firmware change? Â Many thanks.
wlaidlaw Posted March 9, 2013 Share #763  Posted March 9, 2013 I have now received the "Bip" mini softie, kindly sent to me by Tim Isaacs of Match Point Technical. It fits the M perfectly and even without teflon tape as recommended by Tim, feels very secure. See photograph below. However, it does appear as if one of the imps from the iconograph chamber has escaped onto the softie (cf Sir Terry Pratchett)  Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted March 11, 2013 Share #764 Â Posted March 11, 2013 My Leitax R to M adapter is going back to Leitax for a refund. David has agreed that there is an error in the coding pit placement, although he says it works on his M8??????. Also the locking tab recess is wrong for the M240 and will not lock on it. Â Sadly still no news of when Leica's own 240 R to M adapter might hove over the horizon. I seem fated never to be able to use my 80-200 Vario Elmar R. chris_tribble Posted March 11, 2013 Author Share #765 Â Posted March 11, 2013 I have a similar feeling about both the 8o-200 and my beautiful, recently acquired R 28 f2.8 PC shift lens. Â Heigh ho - I'm sure our day will come. I am relieved that my Nikon and Canon adapters do work so I've been able to use the two 300 lenses I currently hold + the 28 Nikon shift... (that it until the Nikon's are sold)...
wlaidlaw Posted March 11, 2013 Share #766 Â Posted March 11, 2013 Chris, Â I actually think if Leica prioritised the production of M bodies, they got it correct. After all we can use an M without multifunction grip, extra battery, R to M adapter, etc but not the other way round. I would have thought that they could easily have outsourced a simple dumb adapter like this to Novoflex, Rayqual or similar. Since it is all metal bashing, I assume it will be made in Portugal. It will not trip the coding of course, but that is basically a rather minor point.
wlaidlaw Posted March 11, 2013 Share #768 Â Posted March 11, 2013 Jaap, Â I may just buy a cheap Fleabay one for the time being. I would not mind getting a Rayqual one if it brought up the 28/90 framelines but they don't (I asked for the Contax to M adapter) but I am not going to spend that sort of money for a semi functional adapter. I may alternatively wait for the Leica one. Â Wilson

One of the reason why I moved to Leica is for its compact size so I'm somewhat reluctant to get one but having a quality zoom would be awesome for landscape while traveling. wlaidlaw Posted March 11, 2013 Share #770 Â Posted March 11, 2013 Hi Wilson, would love to see some pics of the M with the 80-200 when you get your adapter . One of the reason why I moved to Leica is for its compact size so I'm somewhat reluctant to get one but having a quality zoom would be awesome for landscape while traveling. Â My experience so far is that it is fine for static subjects using a tripod or maybe a monopod, where you can use the zoom facility on the EVF but hopeless for moving subjects, as the EVF has no split image/microprisms for quick focusing. It is also pretty difficult to spot the focus peaking in the EVF. It is much easier on the back LCD. Â Wilson
wlaidlaw Posted March 11, 2013 Share #771  Posted March 11, 2013 Jaap,  I see Ffordes are doing an R to M adapter at £49.99. If it is from Ffordes, one can be reasonably sure it will be of adequate quality and there would be no issue in returning it, if for example, like my original M to m4/3rd's adapter, it wobbled on the camera body.  Wilson  PS - but currently out of stock
jaapv Posted March 11, 2013 Share #772 Â Posted March 11, 2013 Thanks For me not an issue. I have various adapters. I'll have to see if I can modify one with a Jinfinance 28/90 mount.

trond Posted March 15, 2013 Share #777  Posted March 15, 2013 ... and what fun you'll have Thank you Chris and Jono!  I took the new M for a spin at a rock concert with the Norwegian band Kaiser´s Orchestra.  A bit bold to do with a new camera with only practicing 15 test shots of the book shelf in my office!  My leicafriend Erling (emm on the forum) managed to fix me a press pass so I got behind the scenes to try out the new M "beast".  Very difficult lighting with strobes and ever changing colored light, made exposure a hit and miss due to the strobes.  Most shots are ISO 3200.  After the event I had filled one and a half 16GB cards, more than half of the shots used live view, the battery was still at 60%.  My first encounter with the new M was a good one, and the camera really performs exceedingly well.  Leica has done an excellent job here, and the camera feels very solid and stable.  Attached a few shots from the event.  Best regards  Trond Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted March 15, 2013 Share #778 Â Posted March 15, 2013 .....and some folks say it is a backwards step from the M9. Trond's shots above would just not have been possible with an M9. Â Wilson
vikasmg Posted March 15, 2013 Share #779 Â Posted March 15, 2013 I've ordered the X2 viewfinder (I assume that's the right one!) and will receive it soon. I have also ordered the multipurpose grip with the M body but I have no idea when I will see those :-( Â If there was any hope of getting an R adapter soon I would order it and use the 28-90 mm but I fear that may stay as an ether-accessory for many months. I'll be very happy staying with my present M lenses for the present. I find I take better pictures without zoom lenses. Makes think and you work to compose. MarkP Posted March 15, 2013 Share #780 Â Posted March 15, 2013 Preparing for the M? Â OK OK. I finally gave into temptation and bought a 'mint' 2.8-4.5/28-90 Vario-Elmarit-R at a reasonable price compared to other offerings in recent months. I am too embarrassed to openly declare what I spent:o. Actually, is this lens ever now reasonably priced? Â Apart from my M-lenses I have only ever wanted the 2.8/28 Super-Angulon-R (which I now have, thanks Manolo) and the 28-90 Zoom for the M. I then decided that I wouldn't buy the zoom because of the current prices, but it's the only other R lens that I want. Â I guess that if I end up not wanting to keep it (as if) it will be easy to sell - I've already been approached by someone who is interested. Â Now I just need my M to be delivered..............
