Is there anybody to blame in case this string fails on you, Paul??

I don´t think I would trust this set up, to my eyes it is far from perfection for the heavy gear involved.

In case it was mine I would look for a proper neck strap ... >>Madame Lash<< is good for the weight

of the X2 I would think, not for too much more.

Regards,

GEORG

Nah, it's fine. I don't like straps on any camera, I've never dropped one in my life. I don't carry or dangle it by the strap, it's just there in case it slips while holding it by the grip. It's plenty strong enough for that. I like that it is not really there.

I know it's silly to love a thing, but I am stupid.

I've just revisited M9 land with an M9-P and after a weekends shooting I'm impressed. When I first tried an M9 about 3 years ago I couldn't get on with it at all. I think it was probably a lot to do with value for money and reading about the problems some were having with this very expensive camera. I wasn't ready for it, prefering the speed and reliability of my D700.

Maybe it's the Zeiss Biogon-C 35 and Planar 50 which I didn't have back then that has changed my mind and certainly when compaired against my v3 summicron 50 and collapsible Elmar 50, in my mind the Zeiss lenses outperform the Leica.

In 90mm I only have a 3 element Elmarit so no others to compare it to but it's razor sharp wide open at f4.

It's not all great though!

3 times over the weekend the camera has frozen requiring battery removal to recover. In all my time of Nikon digital ownership I have not had a single issue and I've taken 1000's of pictures.

Battery fully charged, Panasonic gold sd card, standard advance with single shot mode.

1/ switching camera on I moved the collar slightly past the single mode detent then back to single, locked up

2/ take a photo and maybe I reviewed it too quick while camera was writing, locked up and lost next 2 taken pictures

3/ disconnected camera from ipad, camera turned off and cable disconnected, locked up, x2 this one.

Camera back from Leica with new old style sensor and 1.202 firmware in May 2015. total shutter count as of today 7200.

Everytime I just popped the battery out and it was back to normal.

Does anyone have any ideas or do I just accept that's how it goes with Leica digital ownership?

Someone suggested installing the latest firware, any advice?

1.202 is the latest firmware.  That is definitely not normal behavior.  I've had my M9P for three years and never had a lockup, ever.   While I've never had a problem, I've read that they can be sensitive to SD cards and weak, older batteries.

My only suggestion would be to try a different battery and/or SD card and see if you can replicate the problem?

thank you very much :-). Leather is from http://aki-asahi.com/store/, tuning to look like old stock with polishing paste for the surface, scratches with all i found in my household. shutter shows 3500 klicks so far... in a few weeks the sensor will be replaced @ CS Leica in Switzerland.

allways the best light i wish all of you

Installing the latest firmware is certainly wise.

High speed cards and high GB cards do not work well with M8 & M9.   Why???     D3 and D700 Nikons the same/  Plain do not work

SDHC cards work fine...  SDXC, not so much.    I've got 32gb SDHC Class 6 & 10 cards that work just fine in my M9P.

Both the M8 and  M9 are ancient. The data sheet has this to say on the topic of storage media: SD cards up to 2 GB/SDHC cards up to 32 GB
