The longer I look at this thread the more I'm tempted to get an M9-P instead of an M...

I did. Although M specs were unknown Mid September, I would not change my mind.

I also have a M8 and I wanted full frame + 10 to 18 MP is a big jump. 18 to 24 is far less significant.

What will probably be significant is a jump in higher iso quality. To me it makes no difference. My cameras are stuck on 160

I'm impressed by the prints I have made on Hahnemühle too. (A4, A3 & A2)

First shot appears to be on Baryta FB, which has optical brighteners. You may want to try Photo Rag Baryta, if you haven't already, which has none. It reminds me of some silver papers from darkroom days.

For a somewhat whiter base from the PRB, I really like Canson Infinity Photographique Baryta, also without OBAs.

Here is my M9P with 24mm/3.8 Elmar and wide angle zoom finder, plus a small print of a diptych shot with these tools. Moab Colorado Satine has become my favorite paper for printing digital images. It’s lovely, with a semi-smooth surface like air dried B&W fiber paper. Great for color too with the Epson R3000 printer. I plan to do some 17x22” prints next term’s workshops at NESOP on their 3800 printers.

Traded my beautiful M9-P in for its close cousin, the M Monochrom. M9-P baseplate was brassed and scratched, so replaced it, and fitted the brassed one to the MM. Means the MM baseplate stays pristine.

Cheers,

Colin
