philipus Posted September 18, 2012 Share #201 Posted September 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am not aware of anybody providing a true sensor-output comparison. Beyond our eyes you mean I, for one, will be holding my breath regarding the new sensor's performance. Though I was initially sceptic of the M Monochrom, I have since seen pretty amazing results. If that, or something like it, comes to colour then I will be impressed.
Advertisement Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Hi philipus, Take a look here Leica M and M-E. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted September 18, 2012 Share #202 Posted September 18, 2012 ...what about the dimensions of the M-E?Some claim it is exactly like the "old" M9, others stated that it is the same like the "new" M (M10), so in other words a few millimeter thicker?... RobertJRB Posted September 18, 2012 Share #203 Posted September 18, 2012 I have been reading through the specs but may have missed some things. Is there no longer a sapphire screen on the M-E like there is on the M9-P? And is the 'Corning® Gorilla® glass screen protector' on the M as good as a sapphire screen?----------------- Frans Indeed, the ME = M9 without frameselecter, not a rebadged M9P. Sounds great for the value of used M9P's. Choose between a new camera or for a used one with nicer colors, engraving and with some extra's like sapphire glass and frameselector. MarkoM8 Posted September 18, 2012 Share #206 Posted September 18, 2012 Thank you Leica, this helped me make the decision to keep the old M9-P and buy a Leica M Monochrom.

jaapv Posted September 18, 2012 Share #209 Posted September 18, 2012 To size: The Digilux3 is 146x87x42. That makes the waistline of the M quite similar. Hmmmm....
vertekijker Posted September 18, 2012 Share #210 Posted September 18, 2012 Just received the new book from Erwin Puts in the mail - 'Leica Chronicle' - which already has pictures and specs of the new M and M-E in it. He also calls the Monochrom 'a spectacular addition to the expanding M-range', a conclusion which he had not yet stated in his blog. Thank you Erwin! ---------- Frans
flyalf Posted September 18, 2012 Share #211 Posted September 18, 2012 So current line-up is: M. What about AA filter? Since Im comparing my M9 to 24MP due to the sensor and lack of AA, I wonder about the M?? M-E = M9 minus USB and manual selector. What about internal processing resources? MM. Discontinued but still in sale: M9 M9-P I wonder how prices in shops on these will be? I assume the shops will have to cover price reductions. My 50øre: Great move by Leica. Some will of course never be satisfied, but as many has pointed the line-up covers both traditionalists and other. What other vendor can claim this? Only small minus with M is the added weight :-(
Jaybob Posted September 18, 2012 Share #212 Posted September 18, 2012 I, for one, am COMPLETELY satisfied with this announcement. The M9 was/is pretty close to the target of how great the form factor could be. The M is a more modern CMOS choice. M-E gives you the choice of an M9/CCD continuum (at a lower price, REALLY?). I say well frickin' done, gents. Well done!
tobey bilek Posted September 18, 2012 Share #213 Posted September 18, 2012 Most happy I grabbed a M9P last week. Buy the time I cobble up the EVF and lens adapter and R lens, it will be the same size as a DSLR.
Angora Posted September 18, 2012 Share #214 Posted September 18, 2012 "We?" How many are in that "We"? ...and I'm tired of the whining. What do you really want that would be economically feasible? Probably as much as those who're welcoming this "solution" as the messiah. We just want something that would allow us to use our lenses properly like we did on our R, or which at least wouldn't force us to use stop down metering every time. Can't have that, Mr Leica? Fine, you have been lugging us around for years, it's not like we're not used to it. But just don't BS on us and label this M+EVF+Adapter a miracle for R users, because it's no better than using 3rd party reflex or EVIL cameras that have been available for a long time for a way cheaper price. If calling a spade a spade makes me a whiner, I'm very fine with that, Leica has enough unconditional fans as it stands.
tobey bilek Posted September 18, 2012 Share #215 Posted September 18, 2012 Really! Without auto aperture how is this a better R solution than a Canon? While R lenses work on my Nikon D3, they don`t get the pop and nice colors I get with M lenses on the M9. Don`t know about canon, but I am sure the lenses are sharp, but that is more to it than that, lots more. Hopefully the CMOS will keep the Leica image quality the same as M9. If it turned into just another Nikon/Canon imaging machine, it will be sad. Will have to await the reviews.
bbbonthemoon Posted September 18, 2012 Share #216 Posted September 18, 2012 Live view, video mode, what ever. In fact, everything gets down to CCD vs CMOS sensor comparison. Will the CMOS sensor hold the Leica unique look, that CCD sensor was surely providing? Doubts, doubts... Photos on new M-camera page on leicacamera.com look.. hmm, strange? rramesh Posted September 18, 2012 Share #217 Posted September 18, 2012 Any info about Corning® Gorilla® glass screen protector? Look at any Samsung, LG, HTC smart phones. Its the material of the screen. Essentially shatters if you drop a few times.

Jaybob Posted September 18, 2012 Share #219 Posted September 18, 2012 just my opinion, the leica look comes from the 100% from the lens, not ANY digital sensor. We can't all shoot Tri-X.
jaapv Posted September 18, 2012 Share #220 Posted September 18, 2012 Any info about Corning® Gorilla® glass screen protector? It is the same as your iPhone or iPad, i.e scratch-resistant but certainly not scratch-proof, nor shatter-proof.
