iedei Posted September 9, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) it's been a rumour for a while, but there are reasons why this really may be coming soon. This is an interesting thread.....albeit a rebadged Fuji Xpro1 would be a weird twist to the story....hopefully it's more than just a rebadge (so it actually would be a rangefinder)...maybe something to give the upcoming M10 a run in the market? A panoramic digital rangefinder camera would be mega! Anyone excited about the Hasselblad rumor and Photokina this year? - Page 4 - The GetDPI Photography Forums some history: http://robertcatto.com/2012/06/why-the-fuji-x-series-could-become-the-most-awesome-cameras-of-all-time-yo-all-time/

jaques Posted September 18, 2012 Share #6 Posted September 18, 2012 anyone know what time Hasselblad is set to announce? Can't wait to see this... competition is good. It makes me wonder: with Hasselblad going the day after Leica at Photokina one wonders how much (if any) industrial espionage actually goes on with these manufacturers. It seems to me that Leica has a potential serious competitor on its hands with Hasselblad moving into the small format scene. Do you think Leica already knows what Hasselblad has planned: or will they be watching the announcement with bated breath? What happens to 'the M' if this Hassie camera is full frame, optical RF / hybrid EVF/AF, M and R capable and modular (a la 500c) and cost $4,995 with a Zeiss 35 1.4 Lens! Vague and insubstantial dreams always come before harsh reality....

rosuna Posted September 18, 2012 Share #12 Posted September 18, 2012 It is a NEX-7 rebranded for Hasselblad. Just that: ... 5000 euros. Leica is cheap in comparison... and more serious.
jaques Posted September 18, 2012 Share #13 Posted September 18, 2012 what an Ugly POS... i hope this isn't all the rumor adds up to.

VERY dissappointing....but then again, if Leica can do this with Panasonic----why can't Hasselblad? they are a company who needs to make money after all. I wonder what the price point will be.....a couple thousand bucks? I can't imagine 5000....

plasticman Posted September 18, 2012 Share #16 Posted September 18, 2012 Sometimes a mistake of these proportions can totally destroy a company. I hope that's not the case, but I'm really not sure.
jaques Posted September 20, 2012 Share #17 Posted September 20, 2012 heads should roll... Hasselblad by way of an excuse say they want to extend their user base... to what? the luxury/no brains market? Seems to me the people who recently bought the company looked at Leicas recent profits and concluded that all that was needed was 'luxury marketing' and the idiots would hand the cash over... Pathetic! Leica succeeded because it actually was able to work with its heritage rather than simply trying to pimp out someone elses hardware... and then to do that so crassly- what shame... it is clear they had nothing of value to show at Photkina- they should have simply stayed away. What a disastrous marketing move. Hasselblad: you can polish a turd- but it is still a turd...
beewee Posted September 23, 2012 Share #18 Posted September 23, 2012 heads should roll... Leica succeeded because it actually was able to work with its heritage rather than simply trying to pimp out someone elses hardware... I don't recall Leica doing too well until they released the M9. They were slowly going bankrupt before the M8. The DMR years and rebranded pany digicams barely kept the company afloat. The M8 gave Leica just enough money to develop the M9 and position itself to create the current M. It was the M9 that was the cashcow and financed the current M development in earnest. If hassy wants to pull a Leica, a digital XPan would have been the ticket but as much as the execs want to deny it, they blew their money on addng gold trim to a NEX-7.
