That looks like a ZF lens. With autofocus and electronic aperture link

Yes, it is.

Zeiss has presented a new 55mm f/1.4 lens for Canon and Nikon mount. Manual focus.

But in the presentation they mentioned new lenses for CSCs and a "surprise" for M mount, to be presented in Photokina.

There is something strange in that 55mm lens...

The external design is different to that of ZF lenses to date.

It is a 55mm lens, but it is a Distagon type lens (typical for wide angle lenses).

"Carl Zeiss will also unveil two new product families to the public."...

If true, then the next M definitely has live view

Than my ZF 2/100mm will do the job nicely via F-M adapter, even better R APO Elmarit 100mm via R-M adapter will do even better job.

To develop ZM 2/100m lens would imply serious cross talk between Zeiss and Leica, my bet is for something else, maybe fast wide or how about ZM substitute for Summilux 75mm.

And here is Zeiss own announcement in English.

24x36 or "double frame" My Spanish breaks down when they start using English words, but could this be an medium format lens?

That is the question.

It seems like this lens were a medium format lens, but Zeiss does not say that.

Moreover, a 55mm medium format lens with f/1.4 aperture would be very large, and expensive. It does not make sense to present this lens for Canon and Nikon mounts.

I suspect the lens shown in the picture with the press release is just a prototype - more like a AF model to me - the actual product could look quite different.

The rumour appears to be a ZM 100mm f2 Makro. (In addition to the 55 ZF)

I'm not saying it can't happen but, how many people would seriously consider anything longer than 90mm on a M rangefinder?

A 100/2 ZM is simply waste of time IMHO.

Leica does sell 135mm lenses. I find the 135mm on the M3 to be fine. M8-not so good

Yes, but that's because the M3 has a long effective base length with the 0.92x finder.

I can't find the formula right now but I don't think it's possible to focus a 100mm lens at f/2 with the 0.68x finder on M9.
