NZDavid Posted July 16, 2012 Share #41 Â Posted July 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) "The compact silver jog-dial or joystick or whatever it may be" (to quote Adan) recalls the silver metal controls on Panasonic's cameras. Imagine a choice of silver or black controls and black or silver body, like a Panda Leica -- how would anyone ever choose?
Advertisement Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hi NZDavid, Take a look here M'? '. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rosuna Posted July 16, 2012 Share #42 Â Posted July 16, 2012 I am the satisfied owner of an M6TTL. When I tried the M9, I was istinctively comparing it to my film M in term of dimensions. If Leica is able to come out with an M10 that is more similar to the film M, then maybe I'll switch to digital. I know photography is not a matter of dimensions but IMO the traditional design has been somewhat altered in the digital M's. Â That is the most disturbing thing of this "M10 affaire"... that little silver wheel... I would prefer a discrete sunk wheel, like that of the X2 or S2... rramesh Posted July 16, 2012 Share #43 Â Posted July 16, 2012 This just goes to show that the Leica M10 is going to be so good, that nothing our there can do justice to capturing it.
lct Posted July 16, 2012 Share #44 Â Posted July 16, 2012 Typical Leica viral marketing. In about a week's time they will make a "mistake" and some tantalizing glimpse of the M10 will be shown. +
IWC Doppel Posted July 16, 2012 Share #45 Â Posted July 16, 2012 I also see something projecting on the right hand side and note that the strap holder vsible on the left hand side has more space above it than the existing M9. I think the top plate is possibly a mock up to cover the 'real' design. Looking at the screen it is possible it overlaps onto the top plate at the back. Â I am very unsure about the placing of the silver dial and after some staring I am also covinced that mock up is taller than the M9....... jdlaing Posted July 16, 2012 Share #46  Posted July 16, 2012 Open slot and rain? Doesn't mean it couldn't be sealed...I won't hold my breath. Jeff  Olympus has those type ports and they are weather sealed.  Leica has no weather sealed M lenses so it's academic anyway. IWC Doppel Posted July 16, 2012 Share #47 Â Posted July 16, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also note the LR admin comments, suggest they are more in the know, regarding potential features and the substance of the images. Â If true I am becoming ever happier, Live view, EVF fills me with dread. I have my GF1 to make a digital mess of that.......
Olsen Posted July 16, 2012 Share #48 Â Posted July 16, 2012 Taller than M9 or not, if this is the new 'M10'; it looks good. A larger lcd display is good. So is live view; the ultimate framing. If it taller than M9/8 and the body rooms a larger battery, then that too will be an improvement. More buttons means more direct access to functions. It looks promising. Jeff S Posted July 16, 2012 Share #49 Â Posted July 16, 2012 Â Leica has no weather sealed M lenses so it's academic anyway. Â I'd buy a whole new set of lenses if they did that along with a new sealed M; much more desirable than APO for me. Am I the only one? Paul J Posted July 16, 2012 Share #53 Â Posted July 16, 2012 Personally I would welcome a little extra height as I have big hands. I know this isn't a common M owner desire though.
Jeff S Posted July 16, 2012 Share #54  Posted July 16, 2012 Yep, I get undercover and have a coffee or wine when it rains  Glad Kertesz didn't follow this approach; plenty of time for wine after the pics.  I wandered in the rain with my film Ms; don't do that much anymore with the digital Ms. There are other sealed cameras these days, but it would be nice to have an M option. A quieter one, too (without motor whirr).  Jeff

Am I the only one? Jeff  +1 I often shoot in wet/damp/snowy weather. When it rains I resort to my film M. Reasonable sealing on the digi M's would be appreciated. I'd like to think Leica could somehow retrofit the sealing for its lenses, like six-bit coding.
jaapv Posted July 16, 2012 Share #56 Â Posted July 16, 2012 I tend to keep on shooting in the rain; the only concession I do is to keep the camera under my coat when not in use, but I have done that always.
Jeff S Posted July 16, 2012 Share #57 Â Posted July 16, 2012 Maybe works in Holland; bet you wouldn't be wearing a coat in 100 degree heat here. Showers following the afternoon heat create some great photo ops. Â Jeff

janki Posted July 16, 2012 Share #60 Â Posted July 16, 2012 This camera is hardly the M10. I think we here can see the very first image of the new Leica EVIL camera, with looks of a classic Leica M. It is particularly the lens which reveals that we are talking about an entirely new camera line. We do not need anymore to find all kinds of possible tricks to protect our Leicas against the rain. This camera is a FF weather sealed AF camera, with a completely new range of weather sealed AF lenses. You will of course via adapters be able to use both M and R lenses on the new camera with all communication intact. It is nothing less than the R-solution we see here.
