LUF Admin Posted July 5, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, two day ago I've implemented a new service (a so called CDN) which should improve the speed of the Leica Forum - especially in the US, but also in Europe. Most of the bits and bytes of the forum will now come from a server in your country - and not from Duesseldorf where our forum server is located. Much faster is maybe overstating, but it is more than a small improvement If I might suggest another improvement: If you can get IP recognition software, have the forum display in English to non-members outside Germany. sdai Posted July 6, 2012 Share #9 Posted July 6, 2012 It depends on the reader's ISP and the backbone infrastructure it relies on ... some may not be able to benefit from the content delivery network. My download speed from a server located in Germany is normally around 30 mbps so the difference could be very marginal. It is very nice though ... Speedtest.net is telling me I'm getting 37 Mbps to a server in Cologne which is the closest one to Dusseldorf they list. The forum has been painfully slow at times, each page taking 30 seconds or more to open. It is currently taking only about five seconds, but speed can vary.
