Robert_M Posted August 27, 2012 Share #201 Â Posted August 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here's a rumor I hadn't seen before: New Leica Products at Photokina 2012 | La Vida Leica! Â And I see that "La Vida Leica" quotes directly my from my entry in this forum without any attribution to the source of the information (regarding the new firmware having the code for a 28 f/1.4 lens). Call me old fashion, but it disturbs me that people use information and research results from other sources to promote their income generating website without proper attribution. Â Allow me to PROPERLY quote the Merriam-Webster Dictionary: Â "Definition of PLAGIARIZE transitive verb : to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source " Â I have added the bold font to the text for emphasis. It is not unlikely that La Vida found the same thing on his own, as others have, and his language was similar. No? .
Robert_M Posted August 27, 2012 Share #203 Â Posted August 27, 2012 The same thought struck me, however I'm too lazy to find your quote to compare. It is not unlikely that La Vida found the same thing on his own, as others have, and his language was similar. No?. Â His own link to another of his pages points out the 28/1.4 lens and does put my text in quotation marks. However, I see no attribution to this quote anywhere (neither this forum nor any individual). He does not make any claim that this is an original discovery on his part. This is just wrong. andybarton Posted August 27, 2012 Share #204 Â Posted August 27, 2012 IIRC the big rumour site passed on Robert's firmware find without attribution. This was quickly corrected by a comment below. Â I think it is extremely bad manners for these Forum scourers who pass on this kind of information to not give credit for the information. They like readers to believe that they are "in the know" when, often, all they do is know how to use CTRL-C and CTRL-V
IWC Doppel Posted August 27, 2012 Author Share #205 Â Posted August 27, 2012 No rumours of the 35 APO then, I guess that's still on Peter's drawing board. I punted for a 75mm Summilux over the 28mm in May, looks like I have lost my crystal ball

sblitz Posted August 28, 2012 Share #207 Â Posted August 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) based on this on the leica blog http://blog.leica-camera.com/photographers/blog-contributors/carl-merkin/carl-merkin-the-spy-who-came-in-from-the-cold-the-180mm-f3-4-apo-telyt-r/ Â i suspect we will see an EVIL leica that will resurrect R lenses .... otherwise why would Leica post the blog? lct Posted August 28, 2012 Share #208 Â Posted August 28, 2012 Because the next EVIL will be the M10 with its EVF? Just adding an adapter would allow the use of R lenses like the Apo-Telyt 180/3.4 and many (all?) other ones presumably.

adan Posted August 28, 2012 Share #210 Â Posted August 28, 2012 Nice find! If they'd just bumped the kit-lens speed up to f/2, we'd be looking at the Digilux 2 replacement. Â The sensor is much bigger, for thin DoF, and has much better high ISO quality... so... Â Well, true - but in 2012 I'd expect a "Digilux 2 replacement" to also include a larger sensor with all its benefits. Â I was simply looking at the size and ergonomics (left-corner EVF eyepiece) and the analog controls (although that kit zoom lacks an aperture ring, presumably one could get a higher-spec zoom or even the X-Pro prime lenses). Â In fact, if Leica's eventual "X3" is not essentially identical to that Fuji - shame on Leica!

Just adding an adapter would allow the use of R lenses like the Apo-Telyt 180/3.4 and many (all?) other ones presumably. Â Hello LCT. Â My German agent has given me this info. Â M10..CMOS Sensor, live view, Leica R adapter, and a Module EVF. The M body is slightly modified. Â The M9 will remain in production at this time. Â I told him I will have him shot for false information....lol. Â Ken.
lct Posted August 29, 2012 Share #212 Â Posted August 29, 2012 Hi Ken, got more or less the same infos here, except for the M9. Interesting that it might stay in production after the launch of the M10. Then we would have the M10, the MM, the M9 (?), the ME (??) and a full frame EVIL (???) i.e. five FF digi cams made by Leica... when pigs can fly but i might possibly be wrong... eventually... If only we could wait weeks instead of months to receive the mere lens i would be more than happy.
andybarton Posted August 29, 2012 Share #213 Â Posted August 29, 2012 The M10 would be the EVIL camera and the ME is pure speculation.

Paul Reading Posted August 31, 2012 Share #220 Â Posted August 31, 2012 Wow, that's what I want I hope Leica launch something like that. I have a Digilux 2, it is my main camera but I really need an upgrade. I would love either an X10 Manual control or one of these made by Leica. If I didn't know better I would say that Fuji are reading these forums for ideas! There is one problem with the Fuji range and it is a problem for all small sensor cameras, the widest lens is 27mm equivalent. This is a big issue for me and I won't buy any brand of EVIL camera until there is at the very least a 24mm lens available.
