Bag to fit Leica M with lens attached, nothing else?

I'm looking for a bag to fit my Leica with a lens attached and nothing else. Right now I have this one: Lowepro - Apex 100 AW the Lowepro Apex 100 AW

The things I like about it:

-it's the right size--just fits an M with a 50mm lens attached, no room for anything else

-it's water-resistant and comes with a rain shield that you can pull out and use to cover the bag

-it has both a padded shoulder strap and a carrying handle

The thing I don't like and would like to remedy in my next bag is that it doesn't really have padding at the bottom, though it does have some on the sides and top. Can someone suggest another, similarly sized bag that does? Thanks!

Until you find your new bag why not just cut up a Sorbothane inner sole or other suitably shock absorbing material and drop it into the bottom of the bag?:)

Pete.

For the purpose of carrying my camera with a smaller lens attached I use a Kata Bag DC 433. Sound similar to the Lowepro and has an effective yellow padding. It will however disappoint you on one point: it takes a small purse and telephone as well.

What about Leica's own neoprene case...

Well, only in dry weather! That neoprene fabric is a SPONGE; a shower followed by sun will give your camera a full sauna bath (minus the beer)...

I got a mint new original Benser case very cheap; similar to the neoprene one, but top quality leather instead. Less padding, though.

But NO Velcro....:D

I used to use a Hadley insert in a canvas bag but since retiring that bag I've gone with the neoprene case and general bag approach. It's fine for really casual use but I find it less than ideal in a situation when I might want to use the camera fairly frequently and have to keep getting the camera out of the bag and then remove the neoprene case.

I've considered getting a smaller dedicated bag but the problem then is that there is nowhere to stick a book (or the other gubbins that we carry around nowadays in a man bag) and you end up carrying two bags.

Check out the Crumpler 3 million dollar bag.

It'll do exactly what you're looking for... great weather-proof padded shoulder bag that will fit just the Leica-M + lens. It also has a slim front pocket for memory cards and whatnot.

The 2 million dollar bag may work as well but the overall size between the 2 and 3 is negligible in my opinion so might as well go for the 3 in case you wanna sneak another lens in there.

Thanks! I had forgotten about Crumpler, but the One Million Dollar bag might work for me. I intend to keep it inside a larger messenger bag, which is why I want to keep things small.
