Hello,

I'm Jip from The Netherlands 19 years old.

I stumbled uppon this forum while I was looking for a Leica M8 to buy seccondhand, well I found one and bought one. Since my budget is not that big I bought it with a Voightländer Ultron 28mm F2 lens. I bought it March 21st and have been using it since every day! I'm used to using Canon DSLR's but this is a total different world. As I had read before I bought the M8.

Why I wanted to buy this M8 was because I read all the stories about how it makes you look in a different way to photography. Well I only have this camera for a week now but yes it truly feels like a different world. In this week shooting the M8 I've had way more pictures that made me happy then I ever had in just 1 week with my DSLR.

As a young person I don't have that much experience with film photography, which I actually dislike sometimes because film does have a nice aspect to the colours and depth of the colours.

I'm new to this forum so I don't know if it's allowed here but if you want to see some of the pictures I took as a Rangefinder newbie, I posted them on 500px / Jip van Kuijk / Photos

I hope to learn allot from this forum,

Jip

Welcome to the forum, Jip! And congratulations on your new M8.

You'll find that this forum is a great source of collective knowledge and experience and most members are happy to help answer questions - after all we've all been new to Leica too.

A word of advice that might keep you free from the mild grumpiness of the odd member if you manage to ask a question that's been asked many times before: use the Search link to look for a question before you post it so you'll be able to see if others have asked the same question. You might find the answer there too.:)

Pete.

Welcome. You should have loads of fun with your new gear.

And if you hang around the forum a while, don't fall into the trap of thinking that you need an M9 or a certain Leica lens (regardless of affordability) to improve your photography at this point. You'll gain much more by continuing to use and enjoy what you have.

Jeff
