So start a new thread and discover what the latest advice is, not something that happened way back when. Sometimes there is great merit in using the search function, but things do change and especially in the current times advice such as 'send it to Leica' may not be a quick or practical option. Just realise things have changed since 2012.

9 times out of 10 when I try searching internet forums for answers this is exactly what happens. You find a thread that seems to be exactly what you need only to read through it to find that there's no conclusion.

I'v noticed the same, my thoughts are:- some Joe has got hold of a Leica (either by chance or under questionable circumstances).. They need  answers to sorting out a possible fault.. Once they read the answers, they wander off!!   L
