TrueSense Imaging has always been the name of the sensor division even when Kodak owned it.

The important point to get across is that Truesense Imaging isn‘t a Kodak division anymore and that whatever should happen to Kodak won’t affect its business.

And they are not exclusively CCD manufacturers.

Well, they aren’t in the CMOS sensor business.

Agree : let's not forget that TWO cameras are on the drawing board (or, even, in a more advanced state) :

- The "mirrorless-EVIL-not FF"

- The "next M"

My (questionable) opinion is that both will rely on CMOS

As far as the EVIL system is concerned that is pretty much a given. With regard to the M10 it remains to be seen (but it’s likely).

just for the record I have bookmarked this post. Never say never - unless you work for Leica's design/marketing team

Only recently I had learned from a member of this forum that there would never be a 36 MP DSLR.

As far as the M10 is concerned I think ockie50’s point is moot. Surely everyone will have realized that when we refer to an ‘M10’ we are referring to the hypothetical successor of the M9, whatever it might turn out to be named when it is announced.

Exactly... We have no idea what it will be called, but M10 is as good a guess as any. :)

I sure feel lucky. I have no doubt Leica will cough up a M10 at some point but to be honest with you all, I can't think of anything they could do to it to entice me into upgrading. My M9 truly does have everything I need. I can make prints larger then I want and I like the menu setup. Maybe if they made it smaller by enough to matter that might be reason to trade up. If they made it larger by a hair I would have no use for it. My M9 has taken me BACK to the future in the way it shoots compared to my older film setups.

Lack of resolution is certainly not a frequently heard complaint about the M9, so better high ISO and other things would have more priority. But if a new sensor amongst other things adds a few pixels, why not? The Leica lenses certainly are up to it.

I can't see how the Dalsa sensor would be a 'good fit' for a rangefinder's 28.7 mm flange to sensor distance since it doesn't have offset micro lenses at the edges.

From the specs: "Microlenses with wide angular response" ;)

I kind of feel the same way to be honest. I have no want for anything more.

Yes I saw that but read that as each microlens having a wide throat to its bucket to maximise photon capturing efficiency, which with respect doesn't appear to be the same as offset micro lenses that are deliberately set to point towards light from an oblique angle and reduce its attenuation.

I understand that CMOS sensor pixels typically also have a wide angular response compared to CCD but CMOS micro four-thirds sensors used with M lenses exhibit attenuation (fall-off) at the edges in the form of vignetting to a greater extent than the M9's sensor. If the Dalsa sensor had offset microlenses then it would be a USP worth mentioning unequivocally.

1. It's not a Kodak company.

After Truesense Imaging was spun off, they didn’t enter the CMOS market again that they had left when they were still part of Kodak.
