Advertisement Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Hi Stealth3kpl, Take a look here Vented hood for 25mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Erik Gunst Lund Posted January 23, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted January 23, 2012 If it's an actual picture of the hood it looks almost like it would fit a 25mm lens. If you're DIY you could easily remove a little material from the four corners with a Dremel, to make it 'flower shaped'...
jaapv Posted January 23, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted January 23, 2012 Which filter thread would that be ? I'm sure you can find something in Heavystar's e-bay shop.
Stealth3kpl Posted January 23, 2012 Author Share #4 Â Posted January 23, 2012 It's a 39mm thread. 25mm Voigt. Thanks. Pete
IWC Doppel Posted January 24, 2012 Share #5  Posted January 24, 2012 I have a 39mm and 46mm one of these. doubice Posted January 24, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted January 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) ......If you're DIY you could easily remove a little material from the four corners with a Dremel, to make it 'flower shaped'... Â Though a good idea, flower-shaped hoods are not screw-in but clip-on, thus guaranteeing exact positioning when installed. This is not guaranteed when screwing such lens hood on a lens..... Â Which filter thread would that be ? I'm sure you can find something in Heavystar's e-bay shop. Â Another vote for Heavystar - great stuff. When I used a Canon 3.5/25mm RF lens on an M7, I had a vented hood that I ground down myself by trial and error. Eeventually, its extension was about 80mm - on an M8 with a crop factor, you could maybe even use Heavystar's 35mm vented Hood. Â If you get vignetting, use a large sheet of sand paper (emery paper) and run the hood on it in circular motions until the desired depth is achieved. Finish off on really fine sand paper and paint flat black. Â Best, Â Jan
viramati Posted January 24, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted January 24, 2012 25mm, I presume this is a zeiss lens. Don't they do their own?
Erik Gunst Lund Posted January 24, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted January 24, 2012 One screw on hood will fit one lens, every time I'm 100% shure
IWC Doppel Posted January 24, 2012 Share #10  Posted January 24, 2012 OK, does it work with a 25mm without vignetting? M8 and M9?  It's £7 .......... I don't think you will get a test cirtificate !
Erik Gunst Lund Posted January 24, 2012 Share #11  Posted January 24, 2012 Can anyone recommend a vented hood like this with a 39mm thread but designed for a 25mm lens?  Pete  Well... it was not my question and it is the topic of the thread.... :roll eyes: I don't have a 25mm lens  BTW it is a CV lens... see above
doubice Posted January 24, 2012 Share #12  Posted January 24, 2012 25mm, I presume this is a zeiss lens. Don't they do their own?  Zeiss indeed do their own - bayonet type. The OP however, is after a hood for a Voigtländer 25mm Skopar which has a 39mm filter thread.  Best,  Jan
Clive Murray-White Posted January 24, 2012 Share #13 Â Posted January 24, 2012 I'd like to see "light leaking metal" - I can imagine quite a few very handy architectural applications for it
Double Negative Posted January 24, 2012 Share #14 Â Posted January 24, 2012 If you search for just "39 metal hood" you should get quite a few (!) options. Look for any that are shallow and/or flare out. They're dirt cheap, so it wouldn't hurt to take a gamble and test. Â Worse comes to worse, pick one up and take a belt sander to it! Smooth the edges with a nail file and hit it with a Sharpie marker. Voila!
Clive Murray-White Posted January 24, 2012 Share #15 Â Posted January 24, 2012 If its any help - I just put one of these vented hoods, with the inwards sloping design (normally used on a Cron 50) on my 21 Color Skopar and took a few snaps in my office, without processing the pics I detect a very small amount of vignetting visible in play-back. As 21 is wider than 24, I suspect a non inwards sloping, shallow or wide design should be fine. Â The normal hood for the CV 21 is a ridiculous little ring no more than 5-6mm deep
Double Negative Posted January 24, 2012 Share #16  Posted January 24, 2012 ...The normal hood for the CV 21 is a ridiculous little ring no more than 5-6mm deep  All of the lil' Skopars use this same hood and slide-on lens cap (at least the old LTM versions). Which is both cool... And not so cool. Nice that they're so small and they work great with the caps. But they're not terribly efficient. I have the 21, 28, 35 and 50 myself.
