Here are a couple of photos from our French trip last august/september

They are both of the terrace above the famed 'vegetable' garden at Villandry on the Seine, both are on Fuji Provia 100, M6ttl, the first was taken with the 50mm Summilux

and the second was with the 35mm Summicron asph.

It didn't look right in colour, so I converted it to Black & White, the first B&W landscape I have done in 20 years. I think it looks rather 19th. century, Atget perhaps?

Gerry -

Both lovely, but yes, the B&W works better. Perhaps one of the reasons it woks better is that the B&W is shown as a slightly wider shot, adding the depth of another two or three meters to the convergence.

Gerry,

the B&W is more striking. Just a shame you didn't have a couple of fluffy white clouds to balance the sky. Villandry is one of my favourite chateaux - just so unusual with its vegetable garden, instead of flowers.

Charlie

I didn't have any clouds with me :D

For such a tranquile scene it took a lot of patience to get find the moment when there were no peoople in the shot. Villandry is one of our favourites too, especially as I grow a lot of vegetables myself.

Thanks for all your comments, Gerry
