Are you experience the same trouble? Thanks.

Not yet. In London there have been a number of lab closures in recent years but there are still enough decent labs around that do 2 hour E6. There are plenty of mail order options too. The situation is likely to continue to change (unlikely for the better) although a few labs are reporting that their E6 lines are staying reasonably 'busy' (it is C41 that the pro labs are struggling to keep viable).

Steve -- the Swiss lab has closed, but you still send the film to the same address in Switzerland, whence it is sent to Dwayne's in Kansas for the actual processing, and then back to Switzerland, and then to you in the UK or wherever. It takes three or four weeks.

Yes the situation in Turkey is dire. It takes two days to get a roll processed and its expensive around $7 just for processing no mounting etc. People look at me as if i am crazy or smtg. Its also impossible to find slidefilm as well and its around $13 for a roll thats about to expire. BUT i resist.

Not only film but photography is a luxury here and serious equipment is expensive like hell due to 36% luxury and vat taxes. Even dreaming of buying a Leica is not possible so i am glad God gave me the chance to buy my Leica equipment while i was in USA.

Charlie,

Kodachrome? Wonderfull. I cannot find them anymore. I still clearly remember my 25. Just remember, anyway. The overall quality that I can see in a slide (especially in backlight - try red fall leaves in backlight - ) is higher than digital, so I also want to resist, as with pride "claimed" by Mehmet. I concur it.

I use Velvia most of the time. Good film.

Yes, I still do and love them, theres something magical that digital cant do for you, maybe not better or worst, just different. I still have plenty of labs here in Guatemala that do slide processing, so far nobody has shut down processing slides altogether. For the foreseeable future its still looks good here! Enjoy, regards, Mario.

Flavio,

Kodachrome 64 (and 200 whilst stocks last) is still freely available by mail order in the UK. Kodak discontinued production of 200 a few months ago, although there are plenty of stocks around at the moment. 25 was stopped about 4 years ago from memory.

Well I still take slides, just love them and been going it since my first Slide film back in 1969 and on occasions still project them.

I have no problems so far in getting slide film and getting them devolped here in Melbourne.

I must congratulate the Leica Digital Forum, as with all the crap one reads about Digital

imagiing only has reinforced me to stay with my beloved Slides.

It is unfortunate today that everything revolves around a computer, personally I am spending less and less time on the thing.

And I am so committed to my Slide Film that if it comes to ??????????

Slide Film is no longer available, I will retire from real photography.

Cheers

PS. I do have a Digicam it's a Canon A710, OK FOR SECONDARY SHOTS.

.......BUT IT'S NO EQUAL TO THE REAL THING.

I still husband my 30+ rolls of K25 carefully. It's relagated to a 'special occaision' film. 10 day turn around when dropped off at the local Meijers (MI).

I know however that its only a matter of time before the outfit in Kansas drops it though. Environmental issues plus low volume will soon run their course and they'll realize it would be a good business decision to do so. Much the same as Kodak has dropped 25 and 200.

Ultimately its our own fault. Not enough of us users out here to to make it worth their while.

A sad end for the best slide film ever made, And the reputed standard against which Leitz/Leica used to compute their lenses.

Too bad.

Here in Adelaide, Australia at the bottom of the world we have I think, 2 maybe 3 places (anyone else here from Adelaide?) still processing E6 film. The local labs all take the film and feed the jobs to these guys.

My local Pro lab (does wedding work etc) said he will overnight film to Melbourne if it ever gets to no-one doing E6 in my town. So, not great but still hanging in there.
