It is simple engineering to design a mount and bodyshell that are strong enough. Even on the Leica R the mount was not screwed to the mirror assembly but to the front of the bodyshell. I used to bend the mount out of true on my R cameras by long heavy lenses and Odin had a special tool to straighten it. They could do it three times before the bodyshell was overstressed. The measuring tool used the reflection of the mirror to determine the amount.At the moment there are plenty of folks using the R lenses on the NEX mirrorless cameras. hamey Posted November 23, 2011 Share #23 Â Posted November 23, 2011 I am also hoping for EVF on the M10, however I must admit I have not viewed the EVF on the Sony NEX 7 But all the reports I have been reading it's positive so thats good for the EVF. Â As Solms have stated several times NO LEICA R DIGITAL BODY IS FORTCOMING ONLY A SOLATION FOR US POOR LEICA R OWNERS. Â So what will they do, Well what I would like is to combine one body to house two systems by incorporiating the R and M lenses via an adapter for the R. For now forget AF, the market and sales of Leica M especially the M9 has sky rocketed, this proves most Leica M and R owners couldn't give two hoots about AF. Â So what is the future for the Leica M, personally in my opinion the Leica M has reached it's technilogical barrier. So by incorperating an EVF and live view the Leica M is no longer handicapped by it's limited range of capabilties. It now becomes a new ball game. If the EVF is as good as the say then this will allow us to view through those wonderful Leica lenses, now utilising Macro, wides, standard,and telephoto lenses unknown to Leica M users. Â So for those that LOVE the Leica M, thats fine stay with the original designed M series and continue to produce this body line, for me I will stick with my M7. Â Those of us that want more from an M body then it needs to have more then what it is, this can only be the long awaited R10 ...er er.....NO I MEAN THE M10 Lol. Â I am sure Leica's Engineers are quite capable in doing it, so harry up Solms otherwise Canon will be getting my Cheque, the 1DX looks very tempting. Additionally, really high-end products most frequently sell to the older segments of the population - The segments that have accumulated enough money to buy Leicas, Ferraris, etc. If Leica wants to still serve us they probably will need to do something with autofocus, or at the very least, focus confirmation. I just hope Leica doesn't become the preserve of the old, failing eyesight brigade ( certainly describes me). I agree that focus can be a real problem and I would welcome any help on that front. Â So I retract my last statement concerning AF in the above post..........(forget about AF) Only today I was down at camera lane here in Melbourne playing around with the M9P, because it didn't have my diopter I had difficulty in focussing the camera. One of the reasons I prefer my R's with their in built diopter adjustment. I also have one for my M7. Â Hopefully the M10 will have that AF capabilty or focus confirmation so it would be a matter of choice. Â Also today I played around with Fuji's X10, I really liked it and the images on it's screen were superb. Â We can only hope for the future. Â Ken. This is my problem. After using Leica M for many years the only one I can really trust my eyes with is the M3.
